I love this ad. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night singing, “Happy Chrismahanukwanakah to youuuuuuu…” and I still love this ad, especially the older guy who looks like Nat King Cole.
I do keep wondering why the girl with the phone appears to be naked… not that I’m complaining, of course.
I think the only problem I have with the commercial at all is the fact that it’s just there to sell a bloody cell phone. If it had a message like, “War - huh - what is it good for?” it would be perfect.
Eh. Still amusing.
OMG, that’s hilarious! And I love the Santa sleigh being pulled by the many different animals.
The line about the Scientologists reminds me of the Simpsons episode “Homer the Heretic” where after Homer turns his back on the community due to rejecting the church, an ecumenical group of volumnteer firefighters saves his life, and Reverend Lovejoy touts the whole community spirit, “Whether you’re Christian…” (camera pans to Krusty)"…or Jewish…" (camera pans to Apu) “…or Miscellaneous…” And Apu yells angrily, “Hindu! There are 700 million of us!”
Awesome commercial. I’m not tempted to get the product, mind you, so it might be an ultimate failure, but I’ll happily watch it over and over.
I saw the ad once last week and have been keeping an eye out for it ever since, so it’s brilliant to be able to watch it as often as I want now! My new favorite ad, for sure!
I like the blonde girl in the phone costume (for obvious reasons ). I also like the Indian Santa Claus. Brilliant! And I love the twist that it’s not an Old Navy ad.
I like the Red-Nosed Beaver and the whole ‘We threw this together in five minutes’ feel the ad has.
The Mystery Science Theatre guys have a great Christmas song along the same lines call Merry Christmas, if that’s OK.
Mike: and here is our Christmas Carol.
Tom: Don’t call it a Christmas Carol because it is for people of all faiths.
Crow: Yeah and don’t call it a Carol because that’s a girl’s name and we want this to be all inclusive.
They show it here, too. Though the versions I’ve seen were shorter, and Tiny Tim delivers the line mentioned by «Ðëëp¤F®ïêd»™. Though the version in the OP is funnier.
And yes, I like the stoned naked Scientologist as well.
Even after having watched it several times now, the part that sends me into a fit of giggles every time is when the caveman blows a kiss to the elf. He has such an earnest–and crazy–look on his face.
