Christian Bale arrested for assaulting his mother and sister!

Nobody called the police to the scene, is what she means. They only came into it when the mom filed charges.

They showed up. Invited or uninvited, I don’t know. But apparently they sat and waited an hour or so for him to get back. So they were probably on edge already when he arrived.

TMZ is saying that there has been long-standing difficulties between Bale and his mother since she forced him to choose between her and his father in their divorce many years ago. Bale’s father became his manager, and moms got left out of the payday. The mom and sister sound bitter and shifty, so I wouldn’t be surprised if charges were dropped.

I see. Mom isn’t profiting from her son’s career, so when he stars in a wildly successful movie and won’t pony up cash she didn’t earn, she decides to publicly humiliate him. Nice. I think he made the right decision back when the divorce happened.

Completely pointless aside: according to the radio program I was listening to this morning, Mom is a former circus clown.

That explains why she, his sister, and 14 other relatives all got out of the same little bitty car at the premiere.

Harley Quinn!

What kind of activism?

Clown rights.

Environmental and animal rights causes, if I remember right. His father was an activist too. He’s been a vegetarian since he read Charlotte’s Web as a little kid.

Well, no one wants to eat spiders, but you don’t have to go whole hog vegetarianism.

(I thought this was the thread for bad jokes!)

The Daily Mail is saying today that it began when Bale’s sister asked him for £100,000 “to help raise her children.” Story here.

Hey, I wish Christian Bale would give me a bunch of money to raise my kids too.

Yeah, with that money I could get someone to help me make 'em.

I don’t have any kids at the moment either, but I’d be willing to save the money for when I do. Or if he has a strict policy about only wanting to support his own kids, I’m willing to go that route too. I’m sure my husband will understand.

I thought English people just sent them to boarding school or workhouses. Are there no workhouses anymore?

ETA: bad pun for the collection-

So it seems his mother and sister basically forgot he existed til he was rich and famous and ripe for the picking. Then they decided to jump down, turn around, and pick a Bale forgotten.

I’m guessing that he’s hoping the situation will reach some kind of Equilibrium.

If Christian said “NO” that should have been the end of it. If his mother and sister went on about how he had money and why couldn’t he give his poor sister some, I can understand him going off the deep end.

It is his money. He earned it. Nobody handed it to him on a silver platter. He is not obligated to help raise his sibling’s children in any way, shape or form. What he does with his own earned money is nobody’s business but his and the government.

I wonder how much his sister helped him out throught the poor, starving actor years of his life.

:smack:

Not to be argumentative, but since he’s had a pretty successful career from a very early age, I don’t think he ever had any “poor, starving actor years”.

Well, that is pretty sucky. Yeah, he can probably afford it, but it’s his money. He can do whatever he wants with it. He’s depressed and not sleeping, he’s having marital problems, he’s under immense pressure from a successful film opening, and what he really needs right now is family bugging him for money.
