The IMDB is reporting that Christian Bale is going to play Batman in the next movie which will be directed by Christopher Nolan.

Hm. Christian Bale can do the dark brooding thing well. And he’s certainly able to bulk up enough (Sniffs_Markers once saw him nekkid as he was getting ready for a scene in American Psycho! She accidentally intruded while they were taping him up.)
Yeah, I can see him as a young Bruce Wayne.
Gad zooks. Love Christian Bale, he’s talented and not bad as eye candy either, but the Batman franchise is very definately a dead horse. I don’t think even the vaunted utility belt can produce a crop that’ll get that nag up and running again.
I had heard that the villian (or one of the villians) in this movie was going to be the Scarecrow. Any word on that?

I’ve heard strong rumors that the villain(s) will be Ra’s Al Ghul and/or The Scarecrow.
And Bale has been my top choice to play Batman since American Psycho. Finally Warner Brothers does something right in relation to their DC Comics properties! It pays to be prepared.

Russell Crowe was asked to be the bad guy, apparently. If this is true, I doubt he’d agree to it, so I just thought I’d nip that one in the bud.

Thumbs up to both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan though. I do think that Nolan will be able to bring something new, fresh, and a little bit twisted to Batman.
And when I first heard the rumour of Christian Bale as Batman (last summer, when there was talk of him playing against Jude Law as Superman) I really wasn’t sure how I felt about that. I never saw American Psycho, so I just pictured this goodygoody from Newsies. And then I saw the trash that is Reign of Fire and although the film sucked, Bale’s performance was great. Yes, he could be Bruce Wayne/Batman.
I only wish there was some way they could work Harley Quinn into the new film.
YUCK, God Damn - WB/DC Can’t you make a Superhero movie other than the played out Batman or Superman. Hello, there are other characters in the DC Universe.
Meh. I was exicted when the word was that they were going to do the Year One storyline, but even though I liked Memento, I’ve yet to hear anything impressive about “The Frightening” or whatever its rumored to be called.
The casting is all fine and good, but I maintain that they will be incapable of capturing the menace that is Batman unless they use CGI for the cape. I mean a CGI cape is the only thing that made those 30 seconds of Spawn worth watching.
What they need to do is get back to basics. No tomfoolerly, and keep Batman DARK. The thing that made Keaton the best Batman was that he was sort of brooding and inscrutable. Not as much as Batman should be, but way moreso than the other crap two.
