Their horrible belief in the ten commandments shatters my sense of security! Their saviour, risen from the dead, is the avatar of destruction and pestilence! Their faith threatens my very existance!
Those Christians, “religious racists” every one of 'em. I even hear that they don’t let anyone who isn’t Christian live with them because they hate everyone else. Not only that, but they initiate wars against non-Christians just 'cause they’re more powerful.
Definitely a threat to us all. What’s the solution? Eliminate Christianity! That way, the world will be safe and happy, and all the bad things that are happening now will go away.

As for this thread’s OP, sure, let’s eliminate Christianity. If Christians acted the way they say they do–clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, being the light of the world and the salt of the earth–then I’d be all for them.
But they don’t.
American Christianity, by and large, is just a club, like the vegans or the stamp collectors. Christians are no more moral or compassionate than evil heathens like me. Faith in Jesus is just words, without any real change of the heart. The abusive stepfather my mom divorced got saved. Now he’s still the same cantankerous, hateful old bastard he always was, but now he’s got Jesus on his side to justify every hurtful word he says and every cruel deed.
Look at how the Christians treated Manhattan after his outburst. Forgiving 70 times 7? Blessing those who curse them? Nope, just good Christian flaming. If you’re not going to take Jesus seriously, why should anybody else?
The Christian Dopers would do well to imitate Polycarp as an example of a believer whose faith shows the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

go-bear, I believe you are being whooshed. Let’s wait and see if this thread gets closed as the obvious parody (can’t have parodies in The Pit!) it is before more people take it seriously and it turns into a real fight.
I’m not being whooshed; I know it’s a parody of that anti-Jewish thread in GD. But it seems to me that while we’re on the subject, I’d add my two cents.

Sweet Willy, this is not, not, not a flame of Christians at all. The point is that your comments about Judiasm are ridiculous (subject to ridicule) and are just as silly as saying “____ ideology is a threat to us all,” when most of “us” ascribe to one ideology or another. You are generalizing and stereotyping and being quite anti-semitic in the process. Unless you declare you’d say the same things about Christians, or Muslims, in which case I’d say you are being ignorant and anti-whichever it was.
Also, Sweet Willy, it is not my intent to hurt your feelings. What could I possibly gain from that? The only reason I’m bringing this into the pit is because some of what you said seems (as I said before) ignorant, and frankly it gets me upset. I don’t have anything against you personally, just some of your opinions. Call me a coward, but I don’t feel that it’s necessary to insult a person just because he/she has an opinion I disagree with.
On another note… dropzone, are we not supposed to start pit threads as parodies? I guess I missed that little rule! Hope this doesn’t get closed, as it’s actually something I’d like to vent about.
