Christians vs Talebans: Half time score Christians 0 Talebans 1

To mhendo,
No cretin. All you need to do in future is construct arguments that address the facts in evidence rather than those you wish to address, that will prevent all inconsistencies. A tour de force absent of unnecessary rhetoric.

(BTW, personal insults, even if they are couched in sarcasm, are not permitted in GD.)

Actually, Gaspode, perhaps if you could address what you *think * mhendo is saying (that is, if you think mhendo is not expressing his argument properly, try and argue his point from his position and then give an answer), this otherwise interesting issue might get somewhere rather than get bogged down with you two calling each other names. I have no idea if he is “strawmaning” or not - when it became clear you two were fighting and not debating I skipped what you’ve written, which probably isn’t satisfactory for either of you.

So how do they actually conduct investigations then of people without documentation? The entire process must be impossible.

That’s interesting. The only country I’ve ever had to provide employment information and a statement of no previous convictions for is the US. I know someone who once went to South Africa, had a previous criminal record, lied about it on his visa declaration, and was not caught out. I didn’t know that Australian visitors must provide such a statement, and doubt its effectiveness anyway. With the sheer number of visitors, how could they screen them all?

How so? I’m not challenging you - I don’t know how expansion of smugglers’ businesses threatens legitimate refugees.

The example was off target in retrospect. I was trying to give an example of how refugees rorting a system can create resentment and divert a government’s resources - but this is equally applicable to legitimate refugees and “illegitimate” refugees alike.
