Christmas Baking in the MMP

I tossed together a quick page with some photos of the hair salon build.

I think we were there until nearly 11 PM on the day before he opened, just putting the final spit and polish on things and getting all of the tools out. Well… no spit. Barbercosmo doesn’t like spit.

SOOOOO cool, gotti! I love it and would go there in a heartbeat. Your graphics are wonderful!

I just mounted them. It takes masking tape, measuring tape, razor blade, a level, and a bit of nerve to work with stuff that sticks immediately like contact cement. His logo was designed by a dear friend who passed very unexpectedly almost one year ago.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY in effect, and a high of 78 with light rain predicted throughout the day. We shall see. I shall deal with some church janitor JW duties this mornin’ as well as make a run to :astonished: Wally*World :astonished: whilst out and about. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

gotti great pics and a cool lookin’ shop!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, woe and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate attire to be amongst the public. Despair!

Happy Firday Y’all!

I may need to take back the GP praise- I just had a phone call saying I need to come back in, as they didn’t actually have the correct dose in the syringe for yesterday’s jabs…

Okaaay. It may not be their fault, as I’m pretty sure the syringes are distributed pre-filled, but… Someone done messed up. I’m going back in at 5 today to give them another try.

That would explain why my arm didn’t hurt this time…

It’s 54° out there this morning!!! It’s December!! What madness is this??? Then next week, we’re looking at highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s for the foreseeable future. Roxy wants snow, but the local weather guys said we might not get any this year. Guess we’ll see.

FCD sees his surgeon this morning for the pre-surgery consult. When he gets back, we’ll make our insurance decision. And at 10:30, Roxy’s school is going to ZOOM their concert - I’m expecting total adorbs! After lunch, I’ll take advantage of this mild day and gather more firewood for the basement. Several large branches fell in recent wind storms - I’ll hitch the cart to ol’ John Deere and load as much as I can, then break out my little chainsaw and hack it all into fireplace-sized hunks.

And that’ll be my day. Rah.

Happy Firday!!

Morning all. Newspaper brought inside and morning pills taken, so that much is done. Want to go to Staples today and buy a gold/silver ink pen to address the Xmas gifts, because why the heck not? Rain is 4cast for tonight and tomorrow, but it’s 62F outside heading for 70F again, so my heating bill is having a happy winter.

Cupcakes!! Glad to see you’re still with us, don’t be a stranger (we’ve got enough strange folks as is…)

FCM, the ZOOM concert may exceed the allowable numbers of “Awwwws” to the system. Hope the consult is all systems go.

Nut, you have got to be kidding me. Jeez, someone screwed up. Hope this one hurts (in a good way).

gotti, great pics, love the logo and setup, wish PWAISDN nothing but good business.

flyboy, had no idea what Red Vines was, goggled it and not surprising, as I don’t care for licorice. Hope it makes it there in time.

Butters, glad the ankle isn’t broken, hope it heals up nicely.

OK, need to finish the morning internetting and be about the day. All y’all take care.

My eyeballs are tired. A program launch my team was working on that was supposed to be launched this time last week was launched this morning. The good news is that it was successful - yay! The bad news is that I’m on PTO, but I’ll probably need to watch it anyway. Year end in regulated markets always makes me question my life choices.

I almost kept my kids home today. There’s some tik tok challenge going around the public schools called “School Shooter Day,” which encourages kids to threaten their schools. I don’t know what moron thought that was okay. I let my kids make the call because they’re raising police presence at all schools in the area, but holy shit, the stuff kids have to deal with. I’m on pins and needles.

Dad seems to be more comfortable, which is good. I’m going to spend the day wrapping gifts, cleaning things in preparation for Christmas and making cookies. My mom always hosted Christmas and I am decidedly not a decorator, so she’s going to come over for a “consultation.” And to eat cookies.

Welcome back baker! Missed you around here.

The shop looks great gotti. Were it local, I would definitely be a client.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP and clean house. It’s rainy and dreary here, so most anything that gets done today will be indoors.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I heard about that on the news last night - what the everlovin’ F&#% is that??? Pulling a fire alarm isn’t enough, huh? I weep for the country…

Welcome back, Cupcakes!!! What did you bring us??

I just finished building a partial platform so we can change the light in our stairwell. They installed the fixture out of reach of the landing over the steps - really?? So I screwed some 2X4s into the wall on one side - there’s a shelf on the other side. I found a hunk of wood to span the area under the light, and I put the 3-step stool in there. That’s where I stopped. It’s not something one should do without another present… just in case… So when FCD gets home, we can finally change the bulb. I’ve got a new LED ready to go in. Then I’ll just unscrew everything and put it in the shed until the next time we need to replace the bulb. As far as I know, that one has been in there since we moved here 17 years ago.

And I installed ZOOM and set a timer for Roxy’s school show. Hope it works! And I printed out the two insurance quotes so we can compare and discuss before selecting one. I think that covers all the crap we need to deal with today. I hope…

Good morning everyone.

I woke up several times overnight but finally got out of bed around 5:30. I logged onto my work computer to validate my timecard and saw via email that I had won the ugly/festive Christmas hat contest. LOL! Not bad for something I literally threw together in 10 minutes because my original plan didn’t work out.

I am very sorry about your dad, wordy. I hope he’s happier there.

Doggio, I realized I had completely missed sending my condolences about your aunt. I’m very sorry to read about your loss.

gotti, that’s a great-looking shop. If I were closer I’d see if there was an opening for me!

butters, I’m glad the ankle wasn’t broken, but sorry to read you’re still in pain.

I hope the pre-surgery consult goes well, FCM.

I am free, free, free for a week! I’m getting ready to shower so that I can hit some stores for some stocking stuffers and a couple of outfits for the grandkids. I have already told the leadership team at my office that they can reach out to me on my personal cell if something comes up. I really don’t want to be constantly checking my work cell because that leads me to check my email, which usually makes me respond and I’m supposed to be burning leave, not accruing duty hours.

I read about that stupid TikTok challenge too. A couple of school districts in my area are shut down and doing remote learning today. I hope they catch the little so-and-sos (you really don’t want to know what I’m calling them) and toss them in jail for incitement. I’m so sick of this stupid stuff.

Yesterday’s workday was filled with meetings, which of course, included our little Teams Christmas gathering, which was really just a chance to touch base with all the employees in one setting. We try to do that on a monthly basis, although sometimes it spreads across two months. I finished out several other ankle-biters and started on some bigger long-term stuff too. At the end of the day I turned on my out office and locked my computer.

Well, time to hop in the shower.

I ate a solid meal last night & got some sleep. Also accomplished a (very few) things.

So, um … yay me?

Off to irk.

Oh, yeah, yesterday as I was leaving I heard someone refer to me as a “baaaaad bitch.” Made my day, it did.

I hate ZOOM. We could see, but not hear, and by the time FCD figured out the audio, the song was over. I hope they recorded it. We did see Roxy dressed up like a Christmas tree doing some sort of dance, and I assume they were also singing. My computer doesn’t have a mic, or camera, so it wouldn’t let me participate. Dammit. I tried on my phone, but no sound. Dammit.

Stoopit ZOOM.

We got the last of the paperwork from the broker. In a little bit, we’ll head to the Credit Union and transfer the money, and the boat will be ours. Tomorrow, we’re driving over there to get some more stuff off it.

Oh, and the light in the stairwell has been replaced. But I doubt that firewood will be done today. Oh well…

gotti, gotta love the Beard Guy. Rest of it is gorgeous as well.

Butters, hope the ankle starts cooperating - soft tissue injuries take forever to heal.

I was also remiss. Sorry Doggio that you lost your sane aunt.

shoe, does that mean we should call you bitch? Or save it for special occasions?

Government announced that boosters are now available from 4 months. Doesn’t do me any good. But they did roll back the entry test and I only have to get an antigen test to enter Switzerland. Much cheaper and easier to arrange,

We’re flying one airline to the U.S. and then a different airline within the U.S. for the second flight, but it’s all one ticket. They have both sent a reminder to me to complete all the entry forms. I expect it’s enough when I upload the entry forms to the first airline. You know, the one I bought the ticket with?

Gotta feel sorry for the airlines - so much extra paperwork for international flights. And it keeps changing.

Done with work until after the new year, and settling down for the evening. With some pre-packing in between. Just waiting for hubby to finish his thing (he’s just babysitting the computer until he can press a button) before we can watch something on tv.

Definitely ready for the weekend. Not so sure about be reading for the big flight.

Wanna trade? It’s 45 out, forecast high is 55, and it’s so foggy I can’t see the liquor store across the street. Forecast high tomorrow was something horrible like 45. :snowflake:  :snowman_with_snow:

Got a new holiday sport: Tracking Races! I’ve got three Priority Mail packages on my inbound tracking. All were sent on the 14th, from Charlotte, Atlanta, and Milwaukee. Which one is actually at my local post office to be delivered today? The farthest one (Charlotte), naturally. Atlanta is at my regional center for delivery tomorrow, and Milwaukee isn’t expected until Monday. ???

I didn’t hear (or read) the weather guessers saying anything about snow. But it’s snowing.

Sorry about your aunt, Doggio.

Hope your ankle gets better soonest, Butters.

Great pics, Gotti. I’d go there.

I brought a truck load of crap treasures over to the little house yesterday, by myself and unloaded it. I want to drive back today, but it’s 32f here and snowing, sorta. There’s an office Xmas party tonight. (Wifey’s office) Hopefully it’ll warm up in a couple of hours. I have all-season tires on the truck but I don’t know how they’ll behave in ice and snow yet. The middle of no-damn-where isn’t where I want to find out.

Well, need to get showered and dressed.

Got a call this morning from my cardiac device clinic. Apparently I had a small arrhythmia yesterday while I was unloading the truck. My device took care of it, but they wanted to talk to me about it. I didn’t even know, except for feeling tired at one point.
I wanted to talk to them anyway, 'cause for some insane reason our health insurance company can’t cover us in Wasco county and we have to change insurers. :rage: More gummint BS.

Evening, mumpers! It’s a whopping 6C/42F here today, and apparently hazy/cloudy although I can’t tell because it’s dark outside. Also late, and I is tired so have read but retained little.

Dicey I feel the pain! We are due to fly to the US on xmas eve so we have had to book lateral flow tests for the day before the flight, which have to be supervised by a video appointment (presumably to prove it’s us taking them) and should then provide documents to upload to VeriFly along with everything else we’ve got to provide. Then also book lateral flow tests for the day before we fly home, and a PCR test within two days of returning…and all those confirmation numbers have to be on our passenger locator forms. What a performance!

{{{{{shoe}}}}} I hope you continue to feel better and the baddassery continues!

butters so glad to hear it’s not a broken bone!

sunny hope you feel better soon from whatever has you flat out…

Taters enjoy the time off, it’s definitely well deserved.

Nut hate it when something that should fit perfectly without having to try it on suddenly doesn’t. I have a load of t-shirts that no longer fit me for various reasons, I am kind of hoping I can ditch some excess weight in the spring and fit into them again but I have a nasty feeling a certain amount of weight-training at the gym means they’ll all be too tight in all the wrong places :frowning:

gotti the new salon looks amazing, you’ve put so much work into it…I wish I was over there so I could nip in for a haircut but I’ll have to make do with visiting my own hairdresser tomorrow morning for a quick frou-frou!

Today’s good news is that I’ve finished work for the rest of the year. If all goes according to plan and all our tests/paperwork come out right, I won’t be back in the office until 10th January!

It stopped snowing.

Well, I guess we now own a boat. Just back from the credit union moving some funds around and setting up the wire transfer. Now to get insurance, but FCD is napping and I need some stuff from him - I’ll get it later.

I don’t feel like gathering wood debris. I think I’ll just read.
