In case you missed it from last week’s preview, tonight’s episode will have John Laroquette returning as suave super-spy Roan Montgomery. And Sarah wears a belly-dancing outfit.
Casey, Chuck and Sarah are sent to Morocco; Morgan plans to meet Alex’s mother.
Cool episode. Always good to see John Laroquette, and he didn’t disappoint. I like that they’re fleshing out General Beckham’s character a bit, but at the same time I hope they don’t take it too far. The all-business authority figure serves a purpose in the story.
Meanwhile, the elopement thing was cute, and actually proved to have some emotional stakes at the end, so that was OK. But I really hope they don’t make a big contrived conflict over every aspect of planning the wedding. Time will tell.
The General with a rocket launcher!
Exotic hot chick bad guys!
And, oh yeah, the belly-dancing scene!
I liked the “I will not be wearing a belly dancing outfit on this mission” line. Not as much as when she later was actually wearing a belly dancing outfit, mind you. And now I’m not able to think of what else I wanted to say.
John Larroquette is such perfect casting for the role of Roan Montgomery. I don’t think I appreciated him as much in his first appearance, but here he just sinks into it seamlessly. And he seems like a genuinely decent character, rather than a completely stereotypically selfish sot.
I didn’t dig the rocket launcher. I mean, I know that this show is basically a live-action spy cartoon, and I have to expect only a passing association with reality, but that blast should have done so much more than inconvenience Roan and give the evil woman a mild case of unconsciousness.
It was a fun episode. I liked Chuck trying to stand up to Sarah and failing miserably. Casey’s failed seduction of the guard was funny, too. I really got a kick out of Roan and Beckman in Berlin in ‘89 with the Scorpions’ “Winds of Change” playing. Perfect!
I liked that this felt like a season 2 episode, and not just because of the return of Laroquette. Chuck’s Intersect flashed on that one guy’s face, but I don’t recall Chuck flashing on kung-fu in this episode at all.
Sarah seducing Chuck with the belly dance was all kinds of awesome! Whenever this series goes off the air for good (give us at least one more season, please), I hope that Yvonne S. gets another weekly TV gig. I’d watch her in just about anything.
