My problem with Ellie is that anything that isn’t how she thinks everyone’s lives ought to be, she wants gone or fixed. I had hope for the Doctors Without Borders plotline, because, for the first time, she’d had to compromise. At least there’s no reason for her to nag Chuck about Sarah.
I can understand her asking Chuck to promise, because she’d had a crazy couple days and was worried about losing the last of her family. But after, I kept thinking someone would talk to her about the reality of Chuck being able to quit. I’d think other organizations would still be plenty interested in getting the intersect.
I also thought something more would come out of the revelation that Chuck got something like the intersect in his head at such a young age. Ah well.
I agree with Ruby Sees about NBC going ahead and giving them a full season. I thought this season worked as well as it could and I was pleased that they were able to pull of the weird mini-arc.
It’ll be interesting to see where they go with all this next season!
I wonder if Morgan and Casey’s daughter will get together. Overall it was a good episode. I like Chuck playing the evil villain during that one scene with Shaw.
Also, did it look like they were setting Mother Bartowski to be the next bad guy?
There’s still time for that; an effect might occur. In this case it proved Chuck’s mental resilience.
But my guess is that particular experimental Intersect was probably full of nerdy trivial type information, so wouldn’t have manifested in any recognisable way.
When Chuck went to his computer at the end, we were all supposed to think he was about to get another Intersect upgrade. In that moment, I tried to think of what they’d do to him next. Then it wasn’t a big brain-upload after all.
But the fact that he’d absorbed data from the proto-intersect his dad was working on back when means he may have something else built into his gray matter. My guess: his Dad’s technology know-how.
Since Steven is gone, I’m guessing that Chuck will discover next season that he can build neuro-electronic miracles like his Dad used to.
On another note: Morgan Grimes is mostly an idiot, but he is hard-core! Taking on the tiger, and now breaking his own thumbs–he’s a guy who can do what must be done when the chips are down.
When the General was flickering on and off the screen, the first thing that popped to my mind was, “Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” Then she pretty much said it!
It would be very nice if she dialed the “protective sister” thing (however understandable it may be, considering their family history) back a bit, though…
Funny, the instant Mama Bartowski showed up on screen I thought, “Awesome! Mary McDonnell!” even though we really didn’t see any details of her. I am just convinced that I instantly recognized her.
I have this nagging feeling that we haven’t seen the last of Papa Bartowski. Don’t get me wrong - I love the character and especially Scott Bakula’s portrayal of him. I just thought the line about the Ring facility having equipment for “cellular regeneration” was too obvious to be simply an explanation of Shaw’s “resurrection.” Dramatically, I’d prefer he remained dead, but I can’t help but think he might come back. I hope I’m wrong. It’d be too much of a cop-out.
I really liked Morgan’s discussion of Casey with Alex. Morgan honestly likes and admires Casey; it was nice to see him come out and say it.
It looked like her to me too. It wasn’t a WAG. I didn’t even watch BSG, so it’s not like I’m overly familiar with her though.
I think Papa Bartowski will be back. I think he might be dead dead, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had done some sort of reverse Intersect where his entire mind was copied to a computer then downloaded to someone else… perhaps even a clone. So while he’d be dead dead, a close-enough replacement would be around.
I’ve been thinking maybe it’s that when we see her, she’s in protective sister/wife mode. I can’t recall any scenes where she’s doing something she likes and is having fun, though I think the first season had a couple? Her worry would have more weight if that wasn’t all her character did. As Sarah Lancaster is, indeed, hot, it’d be nice is the actress had more fun bits.
