Ah, for the good ol’ days, when a studio exec would say, “You’re beautiful and not a bad actress. Your name is now Yvonne Demure.” I have spent most of my life in areas with large Polish communities and I can only guess how to pronounce “Strzechowski.”
You pronounce it just like it’s spelled.
Episode was fun. Must remember popcorn next time.
You must be a Barney Miller fan with that line.
There were some cute shoutouts in the prop areas. The Astro Diapers in the Sam’s Club. And the guy’s room looked ‘right’.
But that computer was both way too pretty and not pretty enough. Looked like a Mac. And it broke way too easily.
It doesn’t seem like a good policy for the NSA, CIA and FBI to be killing off each others agents. It seems like we’d eventually run out of agents. Don’t we have any spies from other countries we could kill?
What was weird is that we see someone killed near the beginning but after that, despite people saying they were going to kill people, no one else was killed. The other agents that came after Chuck and SpyChick were just injured and not killed, as good as she was with her little knives and hairpicks I think she could have killed them. So maybe this is going to take the A-Team approach to violence, lots of violence, accidents, gunfire, explosions, etc., but very few actual deaths.
Oh, yeah, Jake 2.0 was much better.
I kinda lost it when the BIG SUV T-Boned the wittle nerd car - and both occupants of the wittle nerd car got out without a scratch - and the SUV wasn’t harmed until she got the ‘barricade’ up just in time. (and the occupants of the totally imploded SUV at taht point got out with out a scratch).
But, I did like the Dance scene, and overall, it’s got potential… but, ‘all of the secrets’ can only go so far - its all technically ‘old’ intel, only useful for ‘so long’ - and the whole ‘memory invoked’ montage is annoying as hell.
Will watch it, if I dont have something better to do, and nothing better is on.
I will say this much - It is lightyears better than Flash Gordon !
I finally had to break down and google the sister - played by Sarah Lancaster. Knew she had been in one of my favorite shows but just couldn’t place her.
Everwood! She played Madison, the girl who got pregnant and left Town.
I missed the first 15 minutes but nearly turned it off by the 20th minute. Hung in there, and I actually thought the action sequences, while ridiculous and not at all believable, were better than the attempts at humor and comedy. I think whoever directed the pilot needs some training, as some of the transitions and shots themselves didn’t quite work, but as mindless fluff action, it was OK. I think the actor playing Chuck will quickly irritate me. His little buddy already has.
I had to do the same thing, but for me it turned out to be that I recognized her from Scrubs. She was Lisa the Gift Shop Girl (she was a blond back then, otherwise I probably would have recognized her right away.)
Oh, and the hot chick agent used to date the dead agent?
How could you tell?
Yep, and when she had to quickly think of a fake name for him when she was talking to Chuck, she came up with “Bruce” for Bryce. Quite the secret agent.
I kind of liked that: The ‘curtain’ air bags on the nerdmobile went off. They couldn’t have been going more than 35, anyhow. Why, I don’t know.
I thought it was OK but the idea of the images flashing to reveal the hidden stuff is going to grow old really fast.
However secret agent babe in her underware will not grow old at all.
I liked it for what it was: mindless, over-the-top fluff with fast action, hot babes and cool explosions. I really wasn’t expecting anything more, since the producer/director is McG, best known for making music videos and the “Charlie’s Angels” films.
It wasn’t very good, but I’m willing to watch another episode or two before I give up. I did laugh at Adam Baldwin’s “Don’t move!”
Although I liked the first episode, I’m a little concerned where the storyline is going, whether they can make an interesting show with Chuck and Adam (whatever his character’s name is) and pretty girl trying to act like normal people at the Best Buy.
It wasn’t horrible, and that’s often enough to get by in television. It’s yet another “ordinary guy unwillingly becomes a spy” gig, and it has a few things going for it. There’s a hot, dangerous lady spy with a form-fitting flak bustier. Who knew VS made those things? Things move along quickly enough. The plot points are grabbed out of the standard plot device jar, but lots of shows have gotten by on that same jar.
I’m really peeved about PBS pitting The War against all the world’s season premieres.
My wife quickly pegged Journeyman as “Dead Zone in a reporter suit,” but it wasn’t horrible.
Journeyman had TWICE the female hotness of Chuck. Therefore it wins.
Bionic Woman has only 1 1/2 the hotness (since the sister is young and the evil chick is eh).
Yeah, plots are good too. I just wonder how they’ll keep having the Secret Agent Hottie show up at the store every week. How many DVD’s can she buy?
I watched Journeyman, who was the second hot female? It had the ex-girlfriend that apparently is not really dead and the not overly hot wife. Did you mean her?
Did you not notice Chuck’s hot sister?
