CHUCK Norris couldn’t resist attempting Jean-Claude Van Damme’s epic split, but the action star appears to have gone one better.
Starring in a festive video, Norris has recreated Van Damme’s feat doing the splits between two jets while balancing a human Christmas tree of 11 tactical airborne comrades on his shoulders.
Jean-Claude Van Damme is so sexy that his films are only available as a prescription fertility treatment in Malaysia, Indonesia, seven US states, and the District of Columbia.
So wait … you’re saying that he wasn’t actually doing the splits between two jets while balancing a human Christmas tree of 11 tactical airborne comrades on his shoulders.
Being able to do splits is impressive enough, doing what Jean-Claude Van Damme did is amazing. Even though the platforms his feet were resting on and the wires he was attached were CGIed out.
The point of the Volvo ad, BTW, was to demonstrate how precise and safe Volvo’s automated steering technology is. Volvo has put much work into the SARTRE project, a version of self-driving in which vehicles are all virtually linked, driving very closely together to conserve fuel and decrease road congestion, with only the lead vehicle being actively controlled by a human. The key bit of the technology is the vehicle to vehicle control that allows them to act precisely relative to each other, much more than humans ever could do. They are hoping to usher in an era in which trucks can function in tightly packed conveys with fewer drivers having to be active participants; passenger vehicles too. Doubtful that Van Damme would have done the trick with human drivers.
The fact that few of those who know of the ad could state what the ad was about, just how amazing it is that Van Damme did it, makes one think that perhaps this wasn’t such an effective ad after all.
This is a meme I could completely get behind. Van Damme has never seemed to take himself all that seriously, and other action hero types buying into it would be hilarious.
First, CGI Chuck has a beard that he bought from Hobby Lobby. Second, those planes were flying forward. Where is the challenge in that. Third, the real Chuck would do that with helicopters.
Correct. It wasn’t Chuck Norris actually doing the splits between two jets while balancing a human Christmas tree of 11 tactical airborne comrades on his shoulders, it was Justin Bieber and, by the use of computer tricks, they made it look like Chuck Norris did it.
