Not all the time, but when I read “this is a board dedicated to fighting ignorance” in a uber-geeky Lost thread it definitely translates to “blah blah blah”

Your “/nitpick/” was a false one. You didn’t say “Most albinos have blue eyes” you said “Albinos have blue eyes”. Cisco corrected you. All you had to do was admit to your mistake and then move on. I really don’t understand why it all degenerated to the point where a Pit thread was necessary.
“Albinos have blue eyes” is not the same as “All albinos have blue eyes.” The two sentences mean different things.
The first can, in some contexts, be interpreted as “Some very few albinos have blue eyes.” In other contexts it can be interpreted as “Some very many albinos have blue eyes.” In other contexts it can be interpreted as “Most albinos have blue eyes.” In some contexts, “Typically, albinos have blue eyes.” And in some contexts, “All albinos have blue eyes.”
It has seemed completely obvious to me, from the beginning of that conversation in the other thread, that PerditaX’s utterance (so to speak) of the sentence in question was intended to be interpreted in th second to last sense listed above. “Albinos typically have blue eyes.”
I am prepared, if necessary, to explain why it has not only seemed obvious to me that this is what her utterance meant, but also why it should seem obvious to anyone that this is what her utterance meant.
But I don’t think anyone probably wants to go into that. Nor do I.
