Citizen Trump (et al.)

Trump and Bill O’Reilly’s recent tour had Trump admitting to having been vaccinated and to also having had a Covid booster, and to O’Reilly admitting to being vaccinated too. Trump got a small smattering of “boo’s” from the crowd over this exchange. Trump promptly discounted this group by saying “Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t,” and told O’Reilly that the boos were coming from a, “very tiny group over there.” Trump went on to try to sway and flatter the crowd by saying “We, together, all of us, not me… (we) did something that was historic, we saved tens of millions of lives worldwide” and urged the crowd to try to both give him and also take credit themselves for the vaccine’s development. Trump booed after revealing he got a Covid booster shot

So for some reason, Trump is now attempting to revise his Covid past but I don’t think this is going to work.

I saw that some fervent Trump “social media influencers” (gawd- when did this become a “job”?) and fans on TikTok and Twitter were very, very, very upset by just Trump’s admitting to being vaccinated and booster-ed and his apparent new position on vaccination. I heard the word “traitor” more than once and saw some who were near tears about this change in Trump’s position.

Since that shocking news, Trump has been interviewed by Candice Owens where Trump said “I came up with a vaccine, with three vaccines. All are very, very good. Came up with three of them in less than nine months. It was supposed to take five to 12 years.”

Candice Owens then lied “Yet more people have died under COVID this year by the way, under Joe Biden, than under you, and more people took the vaccine this year. So people are questioning how—"

Trump replied “Oh no, the vaccines work, but some people aren’t the ones. The ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected.” https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/public-global-health/587079-trump-pushes-back-on-candace-owens-people-arent-dying

He’s still opposed to mandatory masking, so his most-shocked fans still have that!

I presume the next week or so as this shockwave rolls through MAGA-dom will be a difficult one for many die-hard Trump fans.

And all I can do is just laugh at their stupidity. I know it’s not right but I just can’t help it.

Fools.

This oughta really piss them off, then (14 second video):

I predict it has very little effect, though.

Trump isn’t a leader, he just knows how to create the illusion of leadership. He doesn’t influence or change anyone’s beliefs, he just reinforces the ones they already have, claims them as his own and feeds them back to his audience.

So I don’t think Trumpers are suddenly going to rush to get vaccinated. They will probably launch some theory that Trump is being blackmailed by Deep State actors who are forcing him to promote the “kill shot”.

Cue Alex Jones, right on schedule.

Blackmailed with what? I thought Trump was The Perfect President, immaculate and delivered by God.

If I was All That, I’m not sure I’d want the ignorant masses to know it.

I’m always amazed at how creative people sometimes get.

Happy New Year!

I’ll go way out on a limb and predict that he’ll go to court and file a suit to try to stop it.

He already did:

As I noted when this came up before, it’s just like one of those goofy Silver Age stories where the villain captured the hero and put him on “trial” for the “crime” of interfering with the villain’s schemes.

Like this one.

This just in: Mobster sues police to prevent them from investigating his criminal activity.

I hope any lawyer that signs onto nonsense like this is fined, disciplined by the law association, and potentially disbarred.

To be sure, Trump has a semblance of an argument, and Letitia James and Andy Bragg probably need to deal with it:

Bragg is working on a criminal investigation.

James is working on a civil investigation.

These have different rules of what is “due process”. Trump is claiming that he could be compelled to reveal shit in the civil investigation that could then be used against him in the criminal investigation. If he were asked to reveal the same stuff in the in the criminal investigation directly, he could have taken the Fifth.

Why do I doubt that this has never come up before?

Maybe it has, but IIRC at least one article I saw somewhere said that it was an unusual situation. I’ll see if I can find that cite again.

Time for a little vintage Cheech and Chong.

Okay, I think the more unique thing in this case is that . . .

So James and Vance (now Bragg) have been working together in some sense in these investigations, so I think the complaint is that there will be cross-talk between the two investigations, in some ways that there shouldn’t be.

Ah, of course, only Christina would have that inner specialness to divine the crucial truthiness of, yes, {{{the sacred number.}}} Usually only Holy Hand Grenades get that kind of vaunted (yet enigmatically mysterious!) numerical designation.

Quite the pre-emptive strike, there, Donny:
" ‘oh he exaggerated the number.’ " So 4-d chess clever.

I’m betting the sacred number he is thinking of is 666.
