City of Heroes Super Team FINAL JOINING INFO

In a character’s primary and secondary power sets, the only requirements are level-based. Higher powers require a certain minimum level. Otherwise, no restrictions.

Pool powers–these are powers that any character can take–are different. When you are 6th level or higher, you may take the 1st or 2nd power of any pool. When you are 14th level or higher, you may take the 3rd power of a pool, provided that you already have at least one other power from that pool. When you are 20th level or higher, you may take the 4th power of a pool, provided that you already have at least two other powers from that pool.

I’ll put you on my friends list, so I’ll be notified when you come online. I’ll get you into the group at that point, if someone else hasn’t already.

For “Fly”, at least, you have to have either “Hover” or “Air Assault” (I think is the name). That’s the only skill I’ve seen so far that has a pre-requisite, though.

It was fun teaming up with Stone Sentinel & Volt Valkyrie last night. I can see now how y’all are leveling up relatively quickly; the xp comes a lot faster when you’re not going solo. Unless I find a way to get some time to play tonight, I’m going to be gone for a while (going out of town for a week). By the time I get back, Admiral Chill’s probably going to be the weakest member of C.E.C.I.L.

Please forgive my not wanting to troll through six pages of posts, but would someone post a roster and the server, so I can post my characters here, and we can “Know we are dopers by out name, by our name?”

TIA

Also a general level we need to be, most of mine are stuck below level 10 because I play so many and there are only so many hours in a day (and I get bored when I experience too much lag).

I’ve cut the music – any other suggestions on how to cut lag would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

SolGrundy, don’t worry about keeping up. One low-level character is easy to sidekick onto a team. Having one high-level character play with a bunch of lowbies is where the problem is. It’s also fairly easy to find pick-up teams (try Perez Park), but the quality varies widely.

ddgryphon, see my sig for our very simple webpage. We are based on the Virture server. I have some pictures from ZombieMan that’ll be putting up at some point. (Have to spend to some free time not playing CoH.) Once I do that, adding more pictures will be simple. Just give us a /tell in game and we’ll get you in the supergroup.

For cutting lag: CoH is a RAM hog. Turn off all unnecessary programs. This is what makes the biggest difference for me. Sometimes after a reboot, CoH runs much smoother. Probably still some resources leaks, I think.

C.E.C.I.L. is on the Virtue server. AFAIK the only requirement is that you be a member of the SDMB and restrict membership in C.E.C.I.L. to three or less characters so there’s enough room for everyone who wants to join.

http://www.gamingninjas.com/cecil/Members.html is the “current” roster, though it was culled from this thread. For instance, it has me down for Mother Marie, Jophiel and Agent Aphid but only M. Marie is actually SG’d at the moment.

I just tried to IM you. Regarding broadand in NC. If your new apartment is near RTP, you will have a bear of a time getting DSL. You might be able to get DSL if your apartment is in Morrisville. But on the bright side, Time-Warner cable has a very good cable modem service, which Earthlink resells.

ddgryphon, I see others have already answered your question.

verbenabeast, I think I’ve seen you hanging around Atlas Park between 9-10 ET. Ryle dup is usually logged in then, and he can issue invites. Try adding his three CECIL characters to your friends list. I look forward to seeing you.

Maus-DSL doesn’t actually run to our apartment, but we’re going to go through TW. Well, we’re trying. Earthlink has an email moving form thing, which I filled out, but then I talked to the tech support and they swore up and down I had to call the sales line and I’m in no mood to wrestle the “Press 1 to…Press 2 to…” menu today.

I’ve joined the fray. Level 4 Mutant Scrapper, still trying to get the hang of the interface. Hope to meet some dopers out there. Look for Jim Beam in game.

Alright, my mutant blaster (levinworth) is now level 8.

I have another character I play a lot, a (currently) level 4 technology scrapper robot named LinMot 32, who likes martial arts.

I picked up the game today – while I’m not unfamiliar with MMORPGs, I am a very shy person and have to get up the nerve to really play, though. Weird. Years with highly popular ones…and then one problem with learning to move in FFXI and then I’m as shy as a slice of honey wheat. Gotta learn the controls, and stuff, now. I’m Culex, Tech Scrapper with Katana something something, no levels since I…just made the character, then logged off in a nervous fright. If you say hi in game, it may take me a little bit to be able to respond, since I have a high frequency of mistelling. Gonna hop on now until I get too embarrassed and run away.

I forgot to mention in my last post, but I have an amusing anecdote relating to CoH.

I let a friend make a character and try it out on my account so see if he liked the game enough to buy it. Well, he went through and chose a magic defender with dark powers. His character design is perfect…in a way. He was going throguh the heads, specifically the hats, and found the pharoah hat, and decided he needed it. He got the matching pharoah beard, gave himself some grey skin and glowing eyes. When it came to the body…well…he put himself in a green business suit. I was skeptical, but when he went to name and give a background for his character, it read something like this:

The Harvard Pharoah used his dark powers to travel through time. Once here, he attended Harvard and received his MBA and graduated at the head of his class. However, he was soon sick and disgusted by all of the corporate BS, and so he decided to use his powers for good, instead of business.

I found remapping the movement to the arrow keys helped me quite a bit. I’m used to it from Everquest and was never much of a WASD person.

Feel free to post your character name and stuff and I’ll have to shoot you a tell. Besides Mother Marie, I have a host of characters ranging from lvls 1-8 so I’ll have someone who can hang with you and you won’t have to worry about being a newbie 'cause I’m not too far removed from newbiedom myself

Well, I have no problem with WASD (I’m a long-time FPSer), just FFXI decided you had to hold your mouse down and drag to the direction you wanted to move as default movement, so I was stuck for a while until I found out how to remap to WASD. That embarrassed me badly though so I get shy in these games. :frowning:

Right now I’m Culex, a level 3 Technology Scrapper Katana Super Reflexes person, in Galaxy City. I’m levelling up as much as possible right now to tackle some missions and to play around in general. I’m gonna be on for the next several hours most likely, so you can talk to me, if you want. Heck, outside of sleeping I probably won’t be not playing for a good several days.

Culex, look for Jim Beam next time your on. I’m in Atlas City, but I’ll travel back to Galaxy City. I’m a level 5 mutant scrapper martial arts/super-reflexes. Alternately, I have a level 2 magic empathy/dark blast who could sit back and heal you. Her name is Tinuviel.

Okay, I now have Brainiac4 in the supergroup. Original name, eh?

He’s a Natural Controller, Gravity/Radiation, just made level 4 last night before I lost connection to server and decided to head to bed. If we can get together a low-level group, or if someone wants to sidekick him, I think he’s about ready for it.

Additional note… I’m a little displeased with myself for selecting Natural as an origin, but dangit, I’m tired of fighting Vahz and Clocks (Science and Technology origins). Naturals get 5th Column, and then Hellions/Skulls (at least in Atlas Park – I think in Galaxy you stick with 5th Column a bit longer). Much better for a controller – the Vahz with their slowing ranged attacks and acid vomit are kind of hard to deal with. And don’t even get me started on the End drain of Clocks. :smack:

So my rationale for the “Natural” origin is that he’s natural, not super-powered… he’s just from the future, where humankind has evolved a bit more and our superpowered brains give us mind over matter powers.

And another thing – we need one of our Fearless Leaders to change the C.E.C.I.L. titles. I think we had agreement on a new set, yes?

Vahz are a giant pain. As if they didn’t suck enough, I hate those noisy sewer missions, what with the rushing water sounds and all. Give me some Nazis to mess up any day! At least they have the good sense to hole up in well lit warehouses and office buildings.

DeVena, you’ll be happy (ok, not really) to know I got some good ole fashioned male attention! While talking to a contact on a female character, I got a:
damn
gurl
u r hot

While this probably would have made any real woman swoon, it failed to warm my cold manly heart and so I continued on my way without dignifying the attention.

There’s quite the lengthy thread on the CoH boards about men playing female characters and it’s kind of amusing. Personally, I just come up with a character concept and whether it’s male or female depends solely on the way my muse moves me. For instance, my assault/devices Natural blaster is female. Her brief story is that she was kidnapped by Hellions, managed to escape and is bitter about the joke of a police force and heroes who are too busy fighting bosses to get their name in the paper to actually help the common citizen. So, naturally, she’s taken up the gun to things herself. She’s dressed in a red leather jacket and gray/black jeans instead of tights/skin or a leather bondage outfit. No “I want to look at a female butt when I run” or “If I look sexy, guys will give me stuff” reason behind it; the story just fit better for a female in mind. Funny thing is that, in the afore mentioned thread, almost no one defended their running a female character with my logic.

Mother Marie, on the other hand, is female just because mace weilding nuns are cool

Wheee… Super JUMP!

Seriously, it’s so much fun I didn’t even want to go chase crooks. Galaxy City has all kinds of neat spots in it, too, you can’t reach without it. And it’s great for playing hide and go seek with. I was doing that with Max last night.

It was fun gettin my butt smacked last night trying to get to mission map. Lemme know next time you have a mission that does not involve running through the hell that is Perez Park. At least until I get to level 14, and can fly.

Well, I finally got some pictures up on our webpage. What, you say, there’s only pictures of our esteemed Zombie Man? Well he’s the only one who’s sent in pictures. So send me some of your character.

Just email me (the webpage has my address) some screenshots (please convert to jpg first) and I’ll plug them in. I should be able to update quickly now. If you send a screenshot of your I.D. I’ll clip it for the main pages.

Master Electric, sorry about that last night in Perez Park. If it makes you feel any better, I think all of us have died multiple times going to and from missions in Perez. Just wait until you try the woods where it’s too easy to get lost and bush-whacked
