I got Thermocline, my Fire/Ice blaster, up to level 5 last night. I had forgotten how much fun it is to play a blaster, so I may well be playing him more. I’ll look for someone to get him invited to C.E.C.I.L. tonight or tomorrow.
And I took a bunch of screenies of The Adventures of Thermocline last night, so I need to sort through and see if anything worthwhile came through.
Alright, I can now announce that I will be playing as either my blaster (elec/elec) Levinworth (still level 8) or my Defender, Knob Goblin (I think he’s level 5, dark miasma)
I spent a lot of time this past week playing different types of characters to see what I like, and those won.
I really love Knob Goblin. He’s a natural origin, which doesn’t make a lot of sense for a dark miasma blaster, but he’s from a demon dimension where everyone has those powers naturally, so it’s natural for him.
I actually have another characer called Knob Goblin on another server, a scrapper with spikes (the coolest scrapper group by far!) I like him, and wanted to have a Knob Goblin character in C.E.C.I.L, but wanted to try something new (was sick of all the origin missions I tried to this point.)
/screenshot takes a picture without any menus or anything, just the straight graphics. /screenshotui takes a picture exactly how you see it on the screen. I’m not sure which one is supposed to be default keybound to the Printscreen button in game, it seems kind of random between one installation and the next. On mine, the ui one is bound to the button, so I’m going to bind the other to Alt-Printscreen or something like that.
Is it possible to have more than one screenshot on your clipboard at once? Or do you have to take the shot, paste it in your art program and then go back to your game?

I just linked the screenshot key to something else and, so far as I know, when I press it it instantly just makes a .tga file of the image. I don’t think it’s ever really on the clipboard, though I might be wrong.
This is only in the actual game – I never tried taking a screenshot of my passport, the character creation screens, etc.
When you press Printscreen (or whatever key you have bound), the game creates a .tga file in the City of Heroes/screenshots folder. Pressing Printscreeen will also paste the entire screen image to the Clipboard, as normal for Windows.

Currently slumming around Atlas Park… just finished off the requisite five Hellions… tried to go after the gang leader, and saw I was in very dangerous territory and decided to back off.
I am … the Shadow Stranger… a Phantom Stranger lookalike. Or as close as the costume engine allows. I wanted to be ‘the Stranger’ but for some reaosn, the game refused that for me, claiming ‘Stranger’ was one of the high-level honorific titles.
It was good playing with you, CG. I think the name thing was probably due to it being taken already – with many thousands of folks on the server, “The Stranger” was probably gone within hours of launch.
On crashes… one thing that can reduce them is to turn off the “geometry buffer” option in the Options menu. I found that leaving it on made me crash a lot with a gf4ti4600 and latest Forceware drivers. Even with it off, I was having problems. I recently rolled back the drivers and am much happier.

We are having problems with Roger Wilco. I am sure one of you can either run, or has, a dedicated Roger Wilco server we could use for our voice chat. If so, please let us know. 
My last crash was with a corrupted(I assume) file… once I used their verify function to ‘repair’, I got back in… after you’d left, unfortunately. My previous crashes are on the body type screen… if I don’t breeze through there exceptionally quickly, the game locks and crashes.
The message I got for ‘the Stranger’ was specifically about honorifics … different from the ‘duplicate username’ error I got for ‘Dark Stranger’. I’m betting they have ‘Strange’ as a title … and just check for the first seven letters to match.
My main problem with the graphics is that my mouse pointer leaves glitchy artifacts in its path sometimes, temporarily. I had the same problem with Master of Orion 3, but there was a setting in that game’s configuration that I could toggle to fix the problem.
Ignore the upper IP address, its my dang network LAN one, :smack:.
Does anyone have a 24/7 server that could run a RW base station for dopers? I can’t seem to get mine to work with DHCP and my LAN setup.
Second Character Established : the Eternal Ninja … a Natural Katana/Reflexes character. Wheee! Combat just got so much easier.

Got Deus X up to 12 last night but then had the worst two hours I’ve had since starting the game (and I started launch day). Must have died at least 10 times. And my Energy Resistance doesn’t seem to be working.
Guess I should have hooked up with some of y’all but wasn’t quite high enough level to hang out with you level 16+ characters.
Gave up after a while and created another charcter. He’s Necroschizm, Magic Scrapper with Negative Energy/Negative Energy. (Looks like he’s walking around in a black cloud the whole time.) Got him up to 4. We’ll see how he does.
Hmm, I’m trying to do screenshots of my characters. Anyone know how to take a screenshot of the character i.d.? The printscreen key doesn’t seem to work for the i.d. screen. Very strange.
It does work, but not in the way it does for game shots. It works in the usual way, which is to say that it copies your screen to the clipboard. If you go into any image editing software and paste, you’ll get a shot of your ID.
You can be sidekicked to a higher level hero, which boosts your level temporarily to 1-3 levels below the mentor if you stick together. That won’t let you access any new areas though; you have to have actual levels for that.
I was getting that. It stopped after I updated the g-force drivers.
I got the latest straight from nVidia’s site… no dice.
