Ok, I think I’ve played around enough. I’m going to make my characters on Virtue tonight. I believe I’ve decided on a Controller. My current plan is Mind Control/Radiation Emission, but I could be swayed. It wouldn’t be hard at all to change my mind on the secondary. Any advice?
Along with any advice on the power set, does anyone have any clever names for a Mind Control Controller? I could see him being a physically weak Science based (ie. transformed by science) type character. Picture Steve Buscemi with psionics and you have about what I’m thinking right now.
Yeah, what an idiotic…oh.
:smack: I sure did get whacked a lot, didn’t I? I’m used to guys that can’t get through my Invulnerability, and with those I can solo multiple Orange/Yellow mobs, or take out a whole warehouse without getting winded. The Vazhilok ripped me apart, at least until I stopped just crashing berzerker-style into them.
We had a good time with Justice Blues, Harold Levin, and myself. Are Plasma Girl and Zombie Man Dopers, or just some folks we picked up for the ride?
I recall someone on Beta had a Zombie Man. Is he the same one?
Okay, stupid question (but we’re fighting ignorance, aren’t we?): what sort of etiquitte is there regarding getting together? I mean, if I see someone online, and I want to join up, do just /tell them. and If i do, how do I do so with out looking like a little kid asking, “Can I play? Huh? Huh? Can I?”
Pretty much, just send a friend/team/supergroup message out and ask if anyone wants to team up for a mission, or just get together for some thug bashing. If so, people will pipe up. Just don’t get your feelings hurt if someone tells you they’d rather solo for a while. Sometimes missions are easier on your own, since the more people on a team, the more villains there are to fight.
When I sign on, I send out a Superteam “Hello” to everyone. If I’m looking for a group to finish a mission or something, I say, “I need to go <do whatever>, anyone want to help out?” or something along those lines. If I’m willing to group but don’t have anything pressing, I’ll say, “If anyone needs help with a mission, lemme know.”
I wanna play! I wanna play!
I’m gonna try to download the game tonight… just fair warning, be on the lookout for the Beast… although I am quite certain someone has that particular moniker locked down already. I will shoot somebody a /tell (or however comms work in-game) so I can join C.E.C.I.L
I am so excited I can’t stand it!
There IS a download for the game. You buy it, it takes you to a screen with your CD key and a download link. Took me about 3 hours on DSL, though, it’s a good sized DL.
I be the one and only Zombie Man for the Beta and on Virtue.
BRAINS!
The war cry works well for my character concept and for CECIL.
ZM is now up to 9th level (which is as far as he got on Beta). Magic Defender with a sharp shooter negative energy beam whose range is unbelievable. (Fun hitting villians on one rooftop from another.)
And I must say I’m proud of CECILians for coming up with character backgrounds. I info other characters and often get nothing but stats.
But we all knew that this would be an more erudite gaming group.
I just got Air Goddess into the SG. I like her with the team colors better than the ones I picked. :smack: 7th level natural defender, with air and electric for primary and secondary. Slow working her way through bad guys on her own, haven’t really tried her with a large group yet.
Still trying to come up with a good background for her though.
Oh, I love doing backgrounds. Half the reason I make characters is I thought up a cool background. But then I don’t like the way the class plays and delete em.
If you don’t want to make a background, just post your description/abilities/name/whatever here and I’ll help.
They have announced what will be in the first update and you will now be able to change your costume after initial character creation (at a cost in Influence points of course). Here is the official announcement:
I’m a little unsure about my battle cry for Super-Collider. Here’s the deal. His backstory is that he’s a young guy who found the super-suit and uses it to fight crime. He doesn’t really know how it works, or even what it does, which gives me a great rationale for adding new powers – he’s finding out new capabilities of the suit.
So his battle cry is “What’s this button do?” which has two problems.
First, it’s not very heroic.
Second, people sometimes think I’m asking a question and ask me to be more specific.
So, thoughts from y’all – should I keep it or change it?
I thought I had come up with a great idea for my mind control Controller last night. Naturally the name was taken. So where the next 20 or so names I tried. I’m guessing since Virtue is the “role playing” server, everyone made name holder characters in case they want to play. I finally settled on Mind Cloud a Science Controller (mind control/storm summoning). Cloud… storm summoning… get it? Oh well, like I said, my good idea was taken.
Anyway, I sent a tell to Max, but I guess he was busy in Perez Park. Max and Ryle Dup also got emails. Who else should I try to contact?
Started working on a new Magic Tanker last night. Earthfall (Stone/Mace) I haven’t fighured out a good backstory yet. He’s about 6’5" in midieval armor.
I started up in Galaxy City. It is much less crowded than Atlas Park. Earthfall’s up to 3rd level now.
Did you? I’m sorry Rogue, sometimes you get so many messages at once that some get lost. And scrolling back up the chat list is no good since as soon as a new message appears it snaps back down to the bottom again. Plus I always forget to check my email. If I see you on tonight, I’ll add you. I plan on being on around 9pm CST til lord knows when.
As far as origins go, Clevlnd Steamer has a pretty good one, being a steam-powered prototype of the Clockworks now seeking revenge on his creators. Max Carnage on the other hand…he’s a big guy doused in nuclear sludge…I’ll need to work on that one a bit. I like tying them in to the already established continuity. I think he’ll have been a janitor for Crey Industries. More to come
It’s no problem at all. I’m a veteran of over 4 years of EQ (over 3 in a guild that raids), so I know how easy it is to miss tells. The chat client doesn’t seem bad in CoH, but it’s hard to believe that after almost 5 years now, EQ still has the best chat as far as ease of use and clarity to read. IMO.
The good idea I thought I had for a mind control Controller was to call him Big Tobacco. Talk about optimum mind control. I was thinking of battle cries like, “smoke 'em if you got 'em” and “you can quit any time!” Oh well.
I just remembered a birthday party tonight, but I may be on afterwards. If not, I’ll find you guys over the weekend.
Thank God we’ll be able to change costume colors. I’m happy with Stilleto, but my level 8 blaster Rapt has a flaming pink ass and crotch. Purple by day, fuschia or hot pink by night. I’m getting tired of hearing, “everybody group up, all meet at Rapt’s ass” !!!
