Classic Rock: What Song Is This?

Wow, thanks so much for asking this question. I just bought a bunch of Styx off iTunes and I was wondering why I couldn’t find this song! Triumph … who’d have thunk?

Oops, you lose. Mr. Godwin says so.

Besides, Rio wasn’t that much of a triumph. It was only popular for 20 minutes. In 1960.

The first time I met the girl who would eventually grow up and become my wife, she was 15, and wearing a Triumph t-shirt. I had never met anyone else who had even heard of them, much less liked them.

The first time I heard them, I was sure it was a new album by Rush. The singing styles are very, very similar.

One time, I casually mentioned to my dad “I think Triumph just might be the best band ever.” He was so shocked by this statement that he lost his grip on the steering wheel and we almost lost our lives right there on the 101 freeway. But he recovered, and I eventually rethought my position.

I still like Allied Forces, though.

Er, um, I mean Rio.

“Magic Power” by Triumph…wow, I don’t think I’ve thought of that song in the 20 years since I last heard it. Thanks for the memory (or should I say the memo-Rio?).

FYI: you can do a Google Search with the text in quotes (ie., “she’s young now”) along with the word “lyrics” and get the lyrics for almost any song.

So, you mean almost any song has “she’s young now” in the lyrics?
Like, you didn’t argue with your Dad when you needed to know how to spell a word and he’d say “go look it up”!!!

I swear there was a Triumph single cut from an album (pre=CDs) called “Sport of Kings”, wasn’t it? Circa 1985-86? What single was that??? Yup, I still have 45’s, people! (Great circle templates!) - Jinx

“Somebody’s Out There” - #27 in 1986.
