Why do the previews for Clerks II not play the “Silence of the Lambs” music while Jay is dancing? Is this some sort of weird copyright technicality? They can use it in the movie but not the trailer for the movie?

There’s an extended version of Jay’s dancing scene on the DVD but it doesn’t use the song. Smith explains that he only paid for the rights to use the song in the actual movie. It may seem trivial but Smith’s movies are profitable because he doesn’t incur unnecessary expenses.
That’s odd. I never saw the movie but I distinctly remember them playing the song in the trailer when I saw it before the movie was released.
Ditto. I saw the film, and don’t remember that part at all, but I HOWLED when the first trailer I saw for the film had that scene…
