Maybe I should plan something in Columbus. There’s a great festival in town in 2 weeks called Comfest (Community Festival), those interested could meet up there on any of the 3 days it will be going on for. I’ll be there for all three. 
When I get home, I’ll start a thread about it.
Sorry again about missing out. There were several Dopers going there that are on my “try to meet in person” list, so I’m pretty bummed out. Look for my upcoming thread about Comfest (it should be easily searchable). I hope to have some other opinions about the event from other Columbus Dopers so that people that might be far enough away could gauge their level of interest in the event.
Not a bad dopefest. Broke up right around 0200 hours.
I’ll be danged if I didn’t get positive ID on Samclem before we even made eye contact, and I’d not once actually seen him describe himself.
The beer selection was so good that I was upset I had to drive home… I stopped at 2, but I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a beer selection that broad before in my life.
Being as I was the only one there in shorts and jackboots probably was your first clue. 
This was a great party. Nice to see Mr. Slant for the first time. His depraved sense of humor fit right in. And nice to meet Elendil’s Heir. Bunch of damned bright, funny people that showed up.

I had a great time, too! Thanks, Elmwood, for hosting us. Good food, good beer, good company, good times - and we weren’t going to let a little rain dampen our spirits, were we? I’ve always thought Dopers are just about the smartest, funniest, funnest (I know, it’s not a word, but I have to keep the -est thing going) people around, and Saturday evening proved it yet again.

That was my point… I’m from[/u[ the East Side, and when I was a kid in the 60’s and early 70’s we would NEVER wear Parma socks… lest Ghoulardi (sp?) would think us uncool…
