I was hoping someone out there can help me out…Every now and then whenever I click on a link here on the Dope (to a pic on picasa or facebook) my laptop will open up the link about 50times in individual windows which subsequently freezes up my comp.
It doesn’t happen on my personal laptop, only on my work Lenovo…to say it’s frustrating is a bit of an understatement.
What can be causing this?
Do you click the link multiple times (e.g. you click it and there’s no response, so you click again)?
No I click it just once…and it doesn’t do with all links. Just every now and then I will click on a link and one window after another window will pop-up. First I thought it was some virus but the pop-up windows all open up to the same link that was in the thread. For example earlier today I clicked on one of the links in the christmas tree thread which linked to picasa and 45 windows popped up all try to open up that picture on picasa
You say you’re using a laptop, how are you doing the clicking? That is, are you using the buttons next to the touchpad, tapping the touchpad, or using an attached mouse? You may have a sticky clicker problem.
I’m using a dockingstation with a separate mouse…I visit various sites that require me to click on links (bunch of them are work applications) and it never happens there. Only on links on the Dope…truly baffling and annoying
What OS? What browser? Is it only Dope links, what about other sites?
Sounds like the same problem I have on occassion
Windows XP SP2, Internet explorer…like I said it only happens when using my worklaptop. Since I can’t change the browser or anything, advising me to switch to Chrome or Firefix is not an option
That is exactlky what is happening to me…I have no toolbars added or anything, nor do the windows link to anything other but the link that I clicked on.
It has been recently for me - maybe in the last 4 weeks, never before and I have been visiting the Dope on this laptop for 8 months now
