Dementia is a symptom of Alzheimer’s. Clint wasn’t joking. He actually thought Obama was in the empty chair.
Why is Mittens obsessed with Putin? Does he think bringing back the Cold War will be good for America?

he’s been good from Rowdy to the Super Bowl, mostly, except that monkey stuff. but this RNC thing was weird.
Let’s not forget Rubio’s gaffe tonight:
“We chose more government instead of more freedom.”
I want to add about Eastwood’s speech: I will bet that Eastwood is the only person with a speaking slot at the RNC who “wanted President Obama to succeed, because I want America to succeed.” He’s probably one of only a handful of the people with RNC credentials who felt that way. It’s a great line, and I think a line that would appeal to cross-over voters. Too bad for the Red Team they ruined that line for themselves, by putting party over country time and again.
I don’t think Eastwood hurt Romney. I think he hurt himself. He had the opportunity to help Romney, and couldn’t do it. I suspect we’re close to seeing the end of Clint Eastwood’s public life. He’s just not up to it any more.
I’m convinced the man wears fake teeth. They are huge! And too big for his mouth. And perfectly straight and bright white. Am I the only person who thinks this looks odd?
Some random guy on MSNBC: “I think Clint Eastwood is the reason we need Obamacare”. Ha.
Who the fuck in the RNC green-lighted this? All I can say is that I’m sure I’m going to remember Eastwood’s convention appearance for a long, long time. That was one grade-A trainwreck there, you bet.
I don’t imagine it’s going to have any particular significance other than to provide the Daily Show and Saturday Night Live with hours of top-notch content, however.
Really like Clint, love my dad. Doesn’t mean both aren’t fatally wrong sometimes.
They thought they were going to get Dirty Harry. Instead they got Mr. Magoo.
I really like Clint too, and love my Dad. And they’re right a lot too.
While the Democrats, of course, have a long and noble record of putting country before party.
Dear son: Please watch this video about once a year. If it ever reminds you of me, go buy me a skateboard.
It’s not going to make anyone crumple up their Romney checks and stomp out of the room but what it does do is take the spotlight away from Romney and Rubio. Instead of “Hey, did you see Romney last night?” it’ll be “Did you see Clint Eastwood last night? WTF was that??”
There’s two kinds of people watching, people like them, who watch because they already believe, and people like me, who watch because Mystery Science Theater isn’t on the air any more.
That would be an interesting combination though.
CNN was talking about Eastwood, not Romney. No one is going to switch sides because of this, but it is pretty incompetent of a party to screw something like this up. CNN also said that he had a speech, but tore it up and decided to ad lib, and that he also went much longer than scheduled. If I were running things there would have been a sudden technical difficulty on the stage.
BTW: Clint is on the shortlist for Secretary of Defense.
Is John Bolton firm for Secretary of State?
Loud applause! How true! Standing ovation!
‘Token’ minorities? You just named the former chair of the RNC, a U.S. Senator and one of the most popular Republicans in the U.S., and the former Secretary of State.
In addition, there was Mia Love, a rising star in the Republican party, Artur Davis, Governor Nikki Haley, Governor Martinez, Governor Brian Sandoval, Governor Luis Fortino… Are they all ‘tokens’? If you honestly think that, I think it says more about you than about Republicans, because these are all powerful people who have risen to the top of the Republican party.
I’ll give you a pass on not knowing all this if you got your coverage from MSNBC, because they conveniently cut away from the live convention coverage almost every time a minority Republican spoke. Doesn’t fit the narrative.
I suspect the problem was that Eastwood is such a powerful figure and they thought he was such a ‘coup’ that they simply didn’t vet him and let him say what he wanted. They probably expected him to be better than he was.
But it would be ridiculous to cut him off. It would have magnified the entire issue, and the media would have been chattering about how the Republicans shut down Clint freaking Eastwood instead of talking about the message. No, once he was on stage, they just had to let him go on.
Where did you hear that? It sounds highly unlikely, and a quick google search didn’t turn up a thing. The man is 82 years old, has no military experience, and no foreign policy experience. It’s also very premature for Romney to be announcing any potential cabinet picks, and I haven’t heard him even talk about it, let alone release a ‘short list’.
