Clinton v Trump - The Stretch Run Thread

Then come out as the villain, Two-Face after the election? :stuck_out_tongue:

Nate Silver, found temporarily paralyzed with a coin in his hand on election day, stormed out of his hospital bed after maiming one side of his face with a spork. Terrified witnesses reported him as saying “Elections! Just a coin toss! No statistics at all! HAHAHAHA” Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for Mr. Silver, who was last seen running out into the street, dressed in a hospital gown and holding the bloody spork.

I really don’t get it. I’m seeing polls which put the rival candidates neck to neck yet every political bone in my body tells me that Clinton has this election sewn up. Could I be totally mistaken? Is this really still a tight race?

Have your political bones told you other things in the past? Were they right or wrong then?

In all reality, Clinton is still favored, but Trump has a not-insignificant chance of winning. Anyone who believes otherwise is deluding themselves IMHO.

The money market agrees with you - barely moved since the latest email story:

So can they do that with just control of congress? Surely they know that if the Dems win the Senate (as is somewhat likely) thats utterly futile. Would they really go through the motions?

They’ve voted to repeal the ACA what, sixty times? Hell yeah they’d go through the motions.

Why not? It’s not like they were planning to do anything else.

There is currently a civil case against Trump by an anonymous woman who accuses him of raping her when she was 13. She is going to give a public press conference with her attorney today at 3 p.m. Pacific time. (It’s a trending story on Twitter and some liberal sites.)

I haven’t really been following this case, so I don’t know if the allegations are credible, but that should make some headlines that he’d rather not have right now. Also, if Trump remains true to form, his reaction to this allegation is probably going to be worse for him than the allegation itself.

+1. Wish I could upvote you for this comment.

Conviction takes 2/3 of the Senate, so it’s utterly futile no matter what - 36 Democratic Senators are not up for re-election.

A couple of things add to the credibility of her claim, for me.

First, her story is corroborated, exactly as she remembers it, by another victim.

Second, the other guy involved is a convicted sex offender that Trump hung out with and about whom he once remarked, '‘He likes ‘em young.’’

Third, Trump has been recorded on video saying and doing things that are completely consistent with the behavior of a sexual predator.

I doubt it will impact voters at all.

This is a funny story, depending on what one means by “funny”. A guy dropping off a poll worker noticed a trumppence sign placed over the sign for the polling place, so he went to move the sign to an appropriate location and was rewarded with some cuts from the box cutter blades embedded in it.

Obviously a false flag operation intended to deprecate bad-hair-guy supporters by using box cutter blades to associate him with 9/11 terrorists.

I have hope it will affect down-ticket races, but I agree that the Presidential race is locked-in and cannot be changed by any conventional munition.

What I’m most curious about now is how this will affect Trump after the election.

How about a weaponized Frisbee?

Eh, it would just get stuck on a roof somewhere, or sucked under a car.

I’m dreading next Tuesday. Some of these people are dangerous. There may be more than one violent incident.

Gotta do it, though.

Here is an important quote:

[ACLU]
WHO CAN I REPORT INTIMIDATION TO?

You can report intimidation to:

**• The Election Protection Hotline: 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (en Español)

• The U.S. Department of Justice Voting Rights Hotline: 800-253-3931; TTY line 877-267-8971

• Local and state officials, including poll workers; your county clerk, elections commissioner,
elections supervisor; or your state board of elections**

[/ACLU]

Gotta do what? Vote? Of course! I’m not concerned for my own safety (no trumpers will bother with this middle aged white guy), and I’d vote even if I was. I’m concerned for others, and I’m concerned that violence, or concerns about violence, may keep people away from the polls.

There’s one polling station for each WAG 10,000 people. We have about 325,000,000 people which means about 32,500 polling places. The US has 3200 counties each of which has an elections office and most of which have one or more party campaign offices.

There will be a lot more than one incident. It’s just math.

Posted this in Boyo Jim’s very optimistic thread. A poll of early voters shows Clinton up 48-40. And in Florida, 28% of early Republican voters voted for Clinton.

This news will, of course, upset Clinton supporters as it will only keep Democrats home on election day.
