Then why is leaving what is specifically mentioned?! Why not mention whatever it is that actually makes him a coward instead of something that not relevant?
He believes it is very important to the integrity of the election that riggers not be allowed in, even if “poll watchers” need to stand in front of the polling place to keep them out.
People are calling him a coward in reaction to his son’s statements about how Hillary ran from rain while his heroic father went right back on stage after an attempt on his life (which was no such thing). Claiming bravery in the face of something that never even happened is worse than mere cowardice.
I’ve always assumed that the Secret Service ramping up their security procedures (in response to assassinations and attempts) played a role in this.
I remember seeing a feature article that showed pictures of three presidential motorcades (Truman, Ford, and Reagan). The increasing distance and numbers of Secret Service agents was stark. With Truman, people were allowed to within what looked like ten feet. Viewed from the curb, Reagan’s motorcade looked like it was in the next time zone.
Don’t worry. I’m sure every pundit who gave - and still gives - Clinton shit over the whole Sniper-Fire-Gate, will step up soon to excoriate Trump in much the same fashion.
Oh, come on. People are referencing that song explicitly because those are the lyrics. It’s not a coincidence that the song is about running away and Trump left the stage.
Exactly. If I recall correctly, Cheney said that when 9/11 happened, his Secret Service detail came to his office, grabbed him by his belt and pulled him out of the office right away.
Explanations and investigations can wait - their job is is to get their protectee out of danger right away.
It’s chilling to see Trump standing there frozen, shading his eyes with his hand. He would have made a great target if that guy had a gun instead of a sign.
The Secret Service was a few seconds late in getting to Trump. I hope they’d react more decisively with the President in a similar situation.
They can only do so much. I recall in the two attempts on Ford that it was pure luck he survived. A Vietnam Vet knocked the gun away in one case. The gun jammed in the other. Ford was reaching out to shake her hand.
With Twitter, you are getting instant feedback (replies and retweets). A blog post is a more isolated event with less feedback. Twitter is better suited for barroom brawls like this. A blog post is better for carefully reasoned arguments.
