Clinton v Trump - The Stretch Run Thread

I just watched the tape. I couldn’t hear when “gun” was shouted.
When you pinpoint that, then you can criticize the agents.

Agree w running coach.

Shooting a politician giving a speech is easy. And at that point the offense (assassin) has all the advantages and the defense (SS) is way behind the eight ball.

The defense advantages are in preventing a weapon (or a hothead; ideally both) getting in proximity to the politician before, and in preventing the assassin’s escape after the attempt. It appears the SS succeeded in both. Or vastly more likely in this case there was not ever any kind of assassination even thought about by anyone in (or not in) the crowd.

IOW, the part you see on TV replays is the tiniest slice of the whole. And hence the least relevant to understanding the big picture.

Protestor with a sign, no gun was found.

Try this

Chorus:

The Seattle Times is reporting that two Washington state Democratic electors are threatening to withhold their votes from Clinton. They’re apparently a couple of “Bernie or busters”.
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/hes-a-state-democratic-elector-but-robert-satiacum-says-he-wont-vote-for-clinton/

In Washington, there’s a $1,000 fine for faithless electors. Satiacum is okay with paying the fine, and Chiafalo believes that the fine is unconstitutional.

And we can’t blame the millennials for this. These guys are 56 and 37.

Now I’m starting to worry about electors elsewhere. How f’ing stupid can a person be?

Already a thread on it: “HRC has her first faithless elector.”

He looked weak and pathetic, like a helpless little boy. I like the candidates who stand up for themselves. “I alone” you know. Sad.

Agreed. I knew the protester was no assassin from the earlier posts and articles.

My point was that the rest of the SS process that kept guns out of the room probably also didn’t actually filter out any guns. Because nobody was intending to bring one. Not the arrested protester, and not anyone else either.

IOW, the first line of defense is deterrence. It doesn’t appear on camera.

And that goes back to me supporting your contention that aceplace57’s beef about the SS was ill-considered and that him relying on a few seconds of tape to form such an opinion was silly.

Sorry to be unclear.

Very good article showing the Orange Buffoon’s insecurity. They have taken away his Twitter account. He now has dictate tweets to be edited by aides.

If gun was shouted - and I’m assuming it was, I’m thinking not unlikely a Deplorable craving some action, rather than a mistake…

I attended an Obama rally in 2008, and came away tremendously impressed by the thoroughness and efficiency of the uniformed Secret Service people. Metal detectors yes, but unlike the TSA they spoke directly to everyone coming through their station, and doubtless reserved the right to refuse admittance to anyone who made them uneasy.

Maybe the word “gun” was shouted in joy? That his supporters just love guns so much that it’s an all-purpose expression of support?

So, yeah, Nixon on steroids…

Heck, NO.

Someone not using their inside voice.

“A protestor! I sure wish I had ma GUN!!!”

But with much, much better wine.

As I’ve said in the past, he’s Stupid Nixon:

I have no problem saying Nixon was a smart man. I have no problem saying Nixon did good things for the country. Nixon even, to a limited extent, had principles: Preserve The Establishment, even as it was being torn down by the New Left from without and the rising Conservative Movement from within.

Trump has none of those qualities. He’s a stupid man, he can do no good for anyone, especially not himself, and his only principle is Trump Is Great. However, whereas Nixon used his intelligence to be a more cunning animal, a more vicious and dangerous threat, Trump stumbles over himself and gets in his own way to the point his only support comes from die-hard My Party, Right Or Wrong types and the more blatantly fascistic Fringe Right front.

Nixon was a good house with a cracked and subsiding foundation finally collapsing on itself. Trump was a dumpster fire which got a lot more fuel poured onto it to become a dumpster fire for the ages. To use a tired Internet phrase, “and nothing of value was lost”.

Trump’s campaign staff have taken away access to his Twitter account.

Somebody put up a Trump campaign sign outside of James Comey’s house. Though I doubt if he did it, it’s on the curb on the outside of the fence.

Kellyanne Conway is still calling it an assassination attempt, and when Jake Tapper called her on it, she said the campaign will quit calling it an assassination attempt when the media quit saying Hillary is going to win.

Word. You should have guns in schools and everyone should have one but you can’t say the word. It’s a police state is what it is.

Well of course it’s not an actual assassination, Rick, but I think the real issue is how Hillary Clinton is assassinating the hope of the American people in this campaign!

I’m watching MSNBC and they are reporting breaking news that FBI Director Comey has sent a letter today to Chaffetz saying after review of the new emails they have found nothing to change the decision they made in July.

Here is a link to Congressman Chaffetz tweet about this.
