I have to be very careful here at work. It’s a trucking firm, and their idea of a “News Program” is a radio show with Limbaugh or Lars Larson in it. Contrary opinions are definitely not welcome in this workplace.
That sucks. I’ve always had office jobs (mostly IT related) where the conservatives were usually in the minority, and different opinions were always respected regardless.
A Trump poll watcher was causing trouble in Philly. He arrived at the polling place at 7:20 and immediately raised a ruckus because he saw that there were already votes on the machines. The votes were there because some members of the election board who had arrived before him voted - after the legal opening time of 7:00. Then he blocked the door and wouldn’t let people in, and has claimed that he was threatened with a belt.
I’m in IT but for someone who does a lot of defense contracts and usually the mood is a mix between liberals and conservatives and a whole lot of “both sides do it”. This time around, I’m not hearing a peep from conservatives who have all seemed to transmorph temporarily into equal-pox-wishing people, who may secretly vote for trump or might not.
I looked up the Wikipedia article’s source for that figure, and it came from this article, which was published in “National Crosstalk Fall 1999”, and it said at the time that the 40% adult illiteracy rate was falling, so I wonder what it is now.
That’s how it’s being reported: “near polling place”, but keep in mind that there are very few places that are not near a polling place. It may have no connection to the election.
