Fox News has suspended their normal programming of rerunning right wing mouthpieces, but they are replacing it with all Hurricane coverage. No scroll either, just temperatures.
Remember that it’s not even 10:00 PM on the west coast, and they are not affected by the hurricane.
Fox news thought “Donald gets ratings so that means we must support his candidacy slavishly.” That’s the level of intelligence and subtlety they bring to the table. He gets ratings because he is a disaster, and you are going down with him.
That video was bad on so many levels. The message was clunky, lighting was horrible, and resolution was poor. A commentator said it looked like a hostage video. Has anyone analyzed Trump’s blinking to see if he was sending out morse code?
Umm, I’d like a cite for LBJ saying anything as bad as he could grab a woman’s genitals without consent and get away with it. He had his faults and was certainly a crude man when he wanted to be, but I know of no evidence of him being a serial sex offender.
Why? I trust my party not to nominate someone like that in the first place. And, if it does, then I will not have any reason for “loyalty,” any more than any Republican does.
I don’t thnk you can parachute in a new candidate that fast.
Pence would look like an ass leaving the ticket even more than staying on. He should grit his teeth and go through the motions while making it obvious he dislikes Trump. He won’t have to openly betray his party but he can demonstrate he’s not on board with Trump being a pig.
He got himself into this mess and he’s not going to get out clean, but abandoning the Republican ticket four weeks before the election would make things worse.
Incidentally, am I the only person whose opinion of Trump hasn’t changed at all because this is, to me, about as much a revelation as the fan the sun is shiny? Of course he’s said thing like this. You all knew he had, right?
I honestly think that Trump (and his core supporters) really see nothing wrong with talking like this about women. As long as you’re rich and powerful that is.
He’s probably said worse. And thinks nothing of it. Probably thinks this is only a big deal among “liberals and wimps”.
He knew what he was getting into when he bought his ticket (and if he didn’t, he lacks social skills necessary for the office): I say, let him crash!
Nope, you’re totally not alone. I’ve thought he was a despicable shitheel since the '80s, and I was employed by a less well-funded and intelligent version of him for awhile, who had free legal help from mom for several years. I honestly can’t fathom why anyone would want to watch him mismanage people on TV, much less want him to mismanage their government.
I’m thinking that when he loses, he will go off on a epic rant. He will blame everybody and anybody, and insist that he got screwed. I really, really want to watch this happen…
And I agree with you about Pence. He’s with the Republican ticket now, like it or not. All he can do is keep campaigning, and do so without Trump. Maybe not even mention his name.
There is a certain “red pill” / “Mens rights” / “pick up artist” demographic who will actively like Trump more because of this tape. I think he probably honestly doesn’t see anything wrong with it, he has no concept of shame.
I was just this morning complaining to the wife that the hurricane hitting Florida had knocked Trump out of the news. Absence from the public eye can only help him. We come home this evening to find Trump had finally said something so outrageous that it knocked the hurricane out of the news. That’s my boy.
Yeah, there is no surprise for me about Trump being such a pig.
As for Pence, I understand everything you are saying but I am also taking reports Pence’s wife is livid about this tape into consideration. They have two young daughters and looking them in the face will be difficult. Pence’s religious faith seems to be genuine and it will difficult to reconcile with Trump’s words. If he sticks it out then it will be clear where his priorities lie. I expect that will bite him in the ass during any future run for POTUS.
Of all the lessons future candidates might learn from this tire fire of an election, “don’t piss off the media” might be at the top. The Washington Post is going to get a Pulitzer for this shit, The Donald is going to be ruined after November. His public reputation is trashed, his charity is in shambles, his brand will be worthless unless he can sponsor a NASCAR team… well done, media.
Plus, whatever his facial expression and (what I could see of) his body language were communicating, it sure as hell wasn’t contrition.
Chris O’Donnell on MSNBC had three women — an NBC reporter and one each Democratic and Republican campaign manager — in the studio, and he said after TD’s video aired that when he went off on the “distraction” tangent every one of them reacted as if an air bag had gone off in her face.
