Clinton v Trump - The Stretch Run Thread

Isn’t it too late to do that? They can’t take him off the ballot, all those deadlines are long gone. They made this bed of shit, let them lie in it.

Also, Smapti? I take back what I said about taking off the P in Trump. “VOTE 4 RUMP” was the perfect edit. Are you psychic? :dubious:

You hang out with scum. Or you’re a High School sophomore.

Our house can’t wait to see that pig felching Sean Hannity on FOX defend Trump on this one! Bring extra buttered popcorn. Bonus points if you bring Milk Duds.

I used to tend bar on a military base, in an officer’s club. You cannot believe the crude, lewd braggadocio I’ve overheard.

In my military experience, talk of groping and sexual assault was over the line.

Not that difficult.
Top Evangelicals Stand By Trump Despite His Vulgar Comments About Sleeping With Married Woman

The Christian Right will have a lot to answer for when this election is over. They (and some of the GOP leadership) basically sold their souls for some Supreme Court picks

I’m not sure why Trump’s latest vulgar comments have the GOP leadership running for cover when previous stuff like racism and promises to completely upend our alliances didn’t. But whatever it takes.

Clinton must be thanking her lucky stars this hit at the same time the leak of her speech transcripts hit. It’s like no one cares about that or they aren’t all that interesting. As usual though, anything surrounding her gets superseded by what Trump does. If it wasn’t for Trump continually stepping on his d*ck, he would probably be running away with this election if you just go by the press coverage

The members of our humble abode have convened and agreed that Hannity is a Tool for Trump. We also had a quorum and agreed that if you can’t bring Milk Duds, bring Goobers.

Perhaps the GOP thinks it can get by without certain minorities–races, ethnicities, religions, people who think. But alienating 50% of the population is a bad idea.

Back in 1990, Ann Richards was running against Clayton Williams for Governor of Texas. He was ahead–but then was reported to have made a rape joke. Nothing as borderline illegal as Trump’s remarks, but still pretty rude. She won.

Ann said he’d reminded too many Texas women of their first husbands…

Here’s an article about the leaked private speech transcripts of Hillary’s, referred to by computergeek a few posts ago.

Eh, everything she said in those excerpts is more or less true, and I agree with nearly all of it. All her career, she’s been blamed for being too scripted, too self-editing, too wishy-washy. Now she’ll get blamed for the opposite – for speaking boldly, for showing vision, for taking a stand? Man, she can’t win!

Yeah, I agree with the idea that his hard core supporters are not going to go away. Heck, I took a look at Breitbart a few minutes ago (I know, I’m brave like that), and it was universal “just boys being boys, I hear that kind of guy talk all the time” excusing it away.

But the undecided voter? How can this not have an affect?

Yeah, we all knew he was this guy. The video is not surprising at all. But to an undecided voter, I think this is a " I just can’t vote for this guy" moment.

Until he grabs you by the pussy, you just try to think maybe he isn’t really all that bad.

It seems like knowing he’s said things like this is one thing. Actually hearing it via video or audio seems to sink in for a lot of people and make it more real.

As for those who never liked the guy and wonder if others felt the same, I recall during the early Apprentice days, I thought he was a braggart and full of himself and didn’t like him then because he always talked about himself and seemed to exaggerate a lot. I don’t recall the gropey women stuff, except for cheating on his first wife with his second

You know, I’m thinking the same thing. Threatening and insulting minorities doesn’t really matter to the GOP; it’s just minorities after all. Talk about white women in a way that makes your wife and daughters mad and upset is a whole 'nother matter

Will this matter to women? Let’s hope so. Exclusive @FiveThirtyEight projection on what the Electoral College would look like if women refuse to vote Trump:

Of course, Hillary needs to be careful about using Trump’s comments given Bill’s known misbehavior and accusations of rape and other stuff.

:dubious:
So, if you are an “undecided” all the open racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and general display of unfitness are not an "I just can’t vote for this Guy moment " but, a crass and vulgar video where in essence he says that rich and famous guys find it very easy to get laid; is?

I don’t think its going to have a measurable impact on the election.

No, she doesn’t. A small number of GOP partisans believe Hillary is responsible for Bill or did something inexcusable by believing her husband and staying with him.

The rest of the country doesn’t feel that way.

If you can’t figure out the difference, I’m not gonna spend any time helping you out here, buddy.

That’s not what this video says. It says he commits sexual assault.

Also, did you miss the beauty contestant thing? That hit hard even though Trump is well known for saying bad stuff about women. The tax thing hit hard even though we knew he was a bad business man. The Trump Foundation thing hit hard even though we knew he was corrupt.

Having specific examples when everyone is actually finally paying attention helps.

Trump’s video apology was part hostage statement and part child lashing out at others “I’m sorry if you’re sad that I broke the cookie jar but the dog peed on the floor” type of thing. For the first time in his life, Trump has to answer for something and he doesn’t have a clue how to do it. The first third of Sunday’s debate is going to be all about this, what they should do is put a popcorn machine onstage so Hillary has something to munch on while she watches the moderators and the audience give Trump a rectal enlargement.
