Journey with me now to an alternate America, where back in 2008 the first black presidential candidate from a major party was taped patiently explaining that his hobbies range from ‘grabbing white women by the pussy’ to ‘putting the moves on married white women’. Oh, and he hasn’t paid taxes in like twenty years.
Now, don’t do anything rash. There’s a town hall-format debate coming up tomorrow; you might get your wish without having to so much as look at a guy cross-eyed.
Deep down, I don’t think he’s really THAT sad… ![]()

And we all know how that would go down in white America
Sorry. I doubt that your projected future is accurate.
Trump runs on anything that inflates his ego and denies anything that would harm the ego of a person with more humanity.
His charity, like most of his enterprises, appears to have been a sham, so its loss is no issue. His “brand” does not need 100% support. Few television shows since the rise of cable, to say nothing of the internet, have needed anything like 20% of potential viewers to be successful. The Apprentice was moderately successful for over ten years and in its largest audience in its most successful season it only garnered fewer than 29 million viewers–roughly 1 in 10 people in the U.S. at the time. His current “popularity” was around 30% before this current tape’s release, and he will not lose two thirds of his supporters among the sort of people who have already supported him after his remarks regarding Megyn Kelly and others.
If he can attract attention, he can sell his “brand” in a number of enterprises.
(I suspect that he might have a bit more trouble getting funding for property gambles with the amount of publicity that his tendency to abandon projects, stiffing his investors and creditors, has produced, but even there, he can probably con enough investors to continue rolling along.)
Disagree. There is enough criminal and “sue-able” activity involved in the Foundation, campaign, and business that Donald J. Trump will spend the rest of his life fighting litigation. And litigation that is aimed at him, not by him.
Man, this year it’s an October Surprise Advent Calendar.
…with GOOD chocolates behind the flaps. Mini Snickers instead of little Santa heads by Palmer…
BRB, I have to go use that Advent Calendar line on Facebook.
I used to tend bar on a military base, in an officer’s club. You cannot believe the crude, lewd braggadocio I’ve overheard.
Did you hear the officers bragging about kissing and groping women without their consent?
Because that’s what we’re looking at here. This isn’t saying how hot someone is, or what you’d like to do to them. This is sexual assault. Trump is boasting about committing a sex crime.
A new SNL tonight. Alec Baldwin as Trump again.
Be there. Aloha.
…is there any chance that after the rest of us have spent countless hours trying to make America see whats what in this election that Alec could shed some light on this for everybody else…?
Do really think there are any significant “October surprises” coming for Clinton? Anything more than “she sneezed and didn’t wash her hands”?
Yes. This string of bad news about Trump (Foundation, Cuba, Machado, Pussygate) looks like a campaign finally releasing the hounds. There may be more to come, however it may not be the Clinton campaign that does the releasing as the reporters now fully know where to look.
I’m not sure why Trump’s latest vulgar comments have the GOP leadership running for cover when previous stuff like racism and promises to completely upend our alliances didn’t. But whatever it takes.
Clinton must be thanking her lucky stars this hit at the same time the leak of her speech transcripts hit. It’s like no one cares about that or they aren’t all that interesting. As usual though, anything surrounding her gets superseded by what Trump does. If it wasn’t for Trump continually stepping on his d*ck, he would probably be running away with this election if you just go by the press coverage
- The GOP doesn’t care about the racism.because they are effectively America’s White Nationalist party. Why should they care about the racism, it’s not like it’s going to cause them to lose any votes.
The sexism, however, will lead to a massive loss of white female votes which the GOP desperately needs to win. That’s why this causes the GOP to panic and not the other stuff.
- There is nothing “lucky” about this for HRC. The one thing that people have constantly gotten wrong in this election, even more than Trump’s appeal, are the political skills of Hillary Rodham Clinton. This election is literally like having Usain Bolt compete in the Paralympics, with the betting public saying the field is (roughly) evenly matched. No it is not, and never was.
All the hits that everybody has been saying for 15 months should be coming, have now been coming in the last 45 days of the election. This Is Not A Coincidence.
It no longer matters that millions of people are going to vote for him, it never did, because Trump can’t get past the following equation:
Democrat 1992-2012 coalition + pissed off GOPers > white racists
2004 was possibly the last time the white vote was all that was needed to win the Presidency… and even then GWB got 40% Hispanic votes. Trump has effectively marginalized the GOP and until they can get over their dependence upon pissed off grandfathers and poor whites, they will find it impossible to win the Presidency.

It never was the Clinton campaign doing it. All of this has come from disaffected Trump insiders and from the few reporters who haven’t waited for “permission” to do their damn jobs.
Seriously, believe that if you wish. Reporters get led, guided. “Hey, David, why don’t you check out the Foundation paperwork.”
The Dems did their oppo research on Trump and have been feeding this on their own schedule.
In short: I don’t believe in coincidences, and all this shit coming down within the same 3 weeks, a mere month before the election ends, is too f****** coincidental.
Wikileaks certainly has bad timing in this particular case
You hang out with scum. Or you’re a High School sophomore.
Lots of guys are pigs. Lots. And the love talking about sex. Maybe not so much 60-year-old guys (I think Trump would have been about that age when he made the comments), but younger guys? Yep. And not just HS sophomores. Put guys together and bragging about sexual conquests is SOP. I hate to burst your protective bubble, but that’s the way it is.
Once again it seems some down-ticket Republicans are trying to distance themselves from Trump. What’s the straight dope on the impact the frontrunner has on other races?
I came up with 4 possible groups of voters relevant to the question:
-
Party faithful. They may not vote for Trump, but they’ll vote for the Republican candidates in other elections. Whether the GOP candidates in other races disavow Trump or not will have no impact on their down-ticket votes.
-
Occasional voters who align with Republicans. These are the ones who rarely vote in off year elections. Those who would normally vote for the GOP candidate for Pres may elect not to vote at all this year. How many of these can be enticed to go to the polls to vote for US Congress or local election candidates? Those who do go to vote, but vote for HRC or third-party for POTUS, would still vote for Republicans down-ticket anyway, wouldn’t they? I mean, I can’t imagine people saying, “Well, as long as I’m voting for Hillary, I might as well vote straight Democratic this year.”
-
Diehard Trump fans. There’s a notion it seems to me that there are a large number of folks who rarely if ever vote but will get out to cast a ballot for Don the Con. (Frankly I think this group is not as large as some [like trump himself] would have it.) Some I guess may vote for other Republican candidates, but I suspect that some will fill in the little circle for Trump, and call it a day. Other candidates distancing themselves from Trump won’t get whatever votes there are here to get.
-
Which leaves the independents. Are there a lot of these who will decide that down-ticket Republicans are tarred with the same brush as Trump and therefore vote for Dem candidates they normally wouldn’t have?
I can see where in future years being able to say, “I never endorsed Trump” or “I rescinded my endorsement of Trump” might be helpful, but let’s face it - most voters won’t care too much in 2 or 4 or 6 years. So is there a big upside to disavowing him now?

I want to be 100% clear: you regularly hang out with guys who discuss sexually assaulting women in terms relevantly similar to those Trump uses? Is that correct?
Same article discusses this, and the problems with it:
And we’d be dealing with an incredible constitutional crisis here anyway. Even if Trump is forced out, you’re still going to have a significant portion of the country who casts their votes for him intending to vote for him. To count those votes as really being votes for Pence or whoever would be about as anti-democratic as you could get. It seems tremendously unlikely such a plan would be approved.
Here’s a new plan: run someone less appalling in 2020.
A better plan would be to disband the party, and let the Democrats split into two groups; one of which would accept the now homeless conservatives who are capable of rational thought, and the rest who would now be free to take the party to the left of center.

When I was a college student people spoke like this. I’m 20 years younger than Trump would have been at that time and I know few people who speak the same way now as they did then – it’s called maturity and not being a creep.
Seriously, next you’re going to tell me that lots of fathers actually talk about incest with their daughters the way Trump has in the past. Maybe it’s a lot of people – but a lot of the wrong people concentrated in the same places.
Where does he talk about rape or sexual assault in the video. (- YouTube). I have seen that, is it the full video, if not please tell.
He said in essence;
i) Hitting upon a certain woman, who was married. Unclear, but it seems he failed because she was married (and comments on her physique).
ii) That its very easy for him to hit on women, they are willing to let him to do anything; he is always ready to get some action.
In neither case is he suggesting or saying that he acted without consent and in the second case he specifically says he was acting with it.
Crass, vulgar, disrespectful, juvenile. But, frankly, I found his insinuations against Megan Kelley more offensive.

I hope you’re right, but I think you’re wrong. What I think will happen is the same thing that happened after the Bush fiasco. Republicans will wait a month or two after losing then pretend Trump never existed and wasn’t really a Republican anyway. Funny hats may be involved.

Demographics argue against this interpretation. You can’t win nationally with just the white vote.
You’re correct of course, the GOP doesn’t have to change, but if they don’t they are effectively marginalized at the national level.
