Of course, weak knees and such would definitely cause a problem. Pillows or various bolsters can help with that to some degree, especially if you’re willing to invest.

The best workaround I’ve found is to stand at the edge of the bed. It helps that I built a nice four-poster bed that is about the right height for that. Standing frees up both hands as well as being easier on the knees and the back.
