Yeah, but then why did you ask if it was a problem for a poster to post only monologues? If it’s s a problem, then there should be a rule against it. If you don’t want a rule against it, then why would you think it might be a problem?

I wish ignore lists were public. I like to think I’m on his, but suspect I don’t rate. 
Why then you’ll just have to try harder! 
I gotta admit that this is one of the funnier threads I’ve read. No one seems to worry about anyone else’s ignore list…just mine. I suppose I should be honored by the attention.

It might be interesting if the ignore list was automatically reciprocal; put someone on your ignore list and they can’t see your posts, either. The more someone chooses to ignore others, the more they withdraw their own participation and potential audience on the board.

They’ll go onto mine if they have a predominance of the following traits:

[li]Willfully obtuse[/li]
[li]Never address valid questions directed their way (often ignoring same ad nauseum)[/li]
[li]Never have any valid or useful points to make[/li]
[li]As in, sound like an endless broken record with nothing new to say[/li]
[li]Engage in any other “markers” of trolling (I don’t ultimately care if they are True Believers or not, this is a purely empirical set of judgements)[/li]
[li]Tend to be found posting in mostly or exclusively in certain “hot button” type threads (political usually, natch)[/li][/ul]
I don’t get why one should have to wade through any of their endless loads of horsehockey just to get to the thoughtful posts by the reasonable members here (and yes, I do believe one can be conservative and not be a total jackass-and yes some Dopers ostensibly on “my” side(s) are on it too).
Sometimes I almost wish we did the Coventry thing here (when “banned” they automatically are set to have everyone not see any of their posts). Almost. Otherwise I like how TPTB here are on the up-and-up about why someone is being disciplined or banned (I’ve belonged to other fora where people get banned with absolutely no explanation, often without any abusive posts or other gross rules violations, and if I ask I am told that it is all strictly on a need-to-know).
I can’t say that I interact with him much, if at all, but I didn’t read his post that way. He isn’t looking for people to agree with him, just to be agreeable when interacting. Deserving or not, you take a lot of abuse if you are a conservative posting on this MB. Some get more than others, but they all get more than their fair share.
