Leather bomber jackets with a Flying Tigers “blood chit” on the back, aviator’s sunglasses.
Double o double agree second this one. 40s Styles are just Sooooooooooo sexy and cool looking.
I have some that I wear, “in” or not.
Can’t help you with the time or money, but a low-end sewing machine is only $100! (Probably less if you find something used.)
Since I have resumed sewing, I’ve been enjoying looking through the pattern catalogs. There are things available for most sensibilities. And for the vintage look, you’ve got sewing patterns like Vintage Vogue, which has some tasty stuff. If you browse around the Vogue pattern catalog, there are other oddball (and nice) designs there.
Amen! Yeesh! There is no way in hell I’d ever have worn that (even if I had the figure for it).
“Shorts” for men that don’t end four inches above the ankle. Those are not “shorts.” Those are floods or highwaters. Nerds wear them.
I post this at least once a year and no one ever listens…
Those have most definitely come back among a certain crowd.
As for me, I don’t know whether I really want anything I like to come back. On the one hand, people would look better, but on the other hand, I would look like a mindless follower, rather than a complete lunatic.
Oh yeah. Preach it.
I’m always glad when this time of year rolls around and the weather turns cooler. Then I don’t have to spend time wishing I could find and wear some more reasonable length shorts. About mid-thigh length would be good.
Men’s hats.
Tailored shirts in obnoxious colors/patterns.
Pants that actually fit.
Tailcoats.
Spats!
Of course, I wear all that stuff anyway, but it’d be nice to have a better selection when buying.
Good point. Part of the reason I look so fabulous is that everyone else wears such fugly clothes!
What TeaElle said would be nice though.

I’ve been wearing fedoras for nearly 20 years now, ever since high school, and I often get compliments. Yet, nobody subsequently runs out and gets one for themselves. Every year or two I hear the rumor that fedoras are back in style in some circles, or were recently back in style or are about to be back in style. It never happens. Somebody besides me must be making it worth Stetson’s while to produce them, but I hardly ever see them in the streets. Of course, when I say this, I’m dismissing the shitty canvas ones you can buy at Wal Mart, with stitching lines across the crown and in a spiral around the brim. People don’t wear these for style, but because someone’s been giving them the business about skin cancer. I don’t think these frankenfedoras count.

I’ve never seen one in person that didn’t look like a cheezy halloween costume, which is what the majority of them seem to be. But I’ll bet somebody’s making real ones, and if you find one consider it a rare and beautiful thing and don’t be ashamed to step out and show it off.

Sure, for women’s clothes. But men’s suits went through an ugly period about the same time – jackets wide in the lapels and pinched in the middle. The sixties had a better cut – narrow in the lapels and straight on the sides.
Personally, I’d like to see narrow ties come back in style. I buy mine at Aunt Sally’s. New ones are as wide as bibs and decorated like Jimmy Buffet album covers. And would it kill them to crank out sharkskins suits for one year, so I can stock up?
Grunge.
Ultimate style for those on a low budget. All you need is raggidy old clothing which can be picked up for $2 at a thrift store and maybe some scissors.
