Clump-O-Lump: Mix & match plush toys

I work for a place that has been making all manner of nifty stuff for a while now, but we’ve recently dipped our toe into a new area for us: kid’s plush toys.

Our twisted little spin on the plush toy is that you can lop it into thirds (okay, you’re really just unzipping the sections) and combine it with other Clump-o-Lump characters. Think The Island of Dr. Moreau, except, you know, for kids!

Like I mentioned, it’s a new area for us and I’m interested to hear what people think.

It’s a cute idea, very cute!
But my first and overriding thought is - they’re trying to manipulate me into buying more than one toy, at $25 per toy, to play the game. WTF. I’m not gonna even start there.

These are really quite cute. I like how their “personalities” come out in their descriptions. They are bigger size toys, so I don’t think 25 bucks a pop is too high.

Awesome. I especially like the fact that the cross-sectioned part basically looks like meat and bone. I might get one. chiroptera has a point; you do kind of feel like you should buy at least two. But then again, it’s not like they’re useless individually. My kid would have a blast just taking it apart and putting it back together. And you could treat mixing & matching as a cooperative thing with friends, like trading cards or pogs or whatever. Then each kid only has to have one, and you still get to play.

The aspect of “you have to buy more than one” was a little bit of a concern to me as well when I first saw them. But **Heart of Dorkness **brought up some points that I arrived at as well. Even if you don’t unzip a single thing, the character design is still really fun and makes for a great plush on it’s own. Moreover, you can do a little mix and match by attaching the head onto the rump. In the end, I view it like this: they’re a (hopefully) great plush on their own, and if you do want to get another member of the C-o-L family, the experience is multiplied, rather than additive.

Pretty cool idea. I’d buy one, if they were cheaper…

Oh wow, if my kids were a little younger I would get those for them! My youngest is 14, though and I think she’d look at me funny. They are really cool, though! I know a couple of guys with younger kids, I will send them the link.

Wow, you guys went all-out on thinking up names, eh?

Heh. Yeah. Those names were deliberate, but I don’t recall the rationale. Our writers here actually kick ass. But again, I can’t speak to the on-the-nose nature if those names.
