C'mon, I can take it!

What, some of you people don’t like my views?

Your cannot handle an alternate viewpoint?

Someone is not allowed to think differently than you?

Do you ‘rule’ and I ‘suck’?

Tell me.

Flame me.

But do it here, this is the Pit. MPSIMS, GQ, those are NOT the places to do so. If you got major beef with me, don’t drag down the thread telling me so. Take it where it belongs.

Fire away, good citizen. In the pit, I’ll gladly respond.

Name calling, masturbation jokes, and any innuendo about a certain incident involving noodles is not allowed.

Tell me what I’m wrong about, and why. Tell me how I should think differently. But for crap’s sake, people. Be reasoned about it! I don’t resort to name calling and childishness, why do you?

Articulate, thought out, and mature discourse is encouraged, particularly involving anything and everything I’ve previously said that you may have a problem with, be it real, imagined, or metaphysical.

And for people who don’t think I’m ever funny when I try to be, you’re probably right. Yeah, UncleBeer, I’m talking about you. I admit that one right now. So lets leave that out of it.

If you think I ramble too much, lemme tell ya a story about my cousin Jimmy, and the time that he was supposed to cook spaghetti, but I’ll slowly move into a discourse on russian policy, and then newspaper practices.

We are the children of the Eighties. We are not the first “lost generation” nor today’s lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak.

That does it.
Konrad and Homer are the same guy.

Anybody ever see the two of them together?

Come here and flame me! I need the attention.

Phaedrus too. Come on Konrad/Homer/Phaedrus, you really think you can hide your footprints?

Stand on your own. You don’t really need a cheering section. It’s OK to piss everybody off by yourself. Watch, I’ll show you how it’s done.

See ya -

Nope, I refuse to feed you.

A Holiday Collection of Previous Incidents of Name-Calling and Childishness from Homer:

  1. “I will hate every single illegal immigrant, lawn care working, rusted out econoline driving, dirty, sweaty, greasy, mexican bastard that I see pulling up into this $200 a month apartment complex to walk in to his filthy wife preparing food for his twelve unwashed children. I will find out who this is. But each and every one will be hated equally until I know exactly who it was that
did this to me, that violated me and mine.”

  2. “Taken by someone who hasn’t known what it’s like to finally be out of school, to graduate, to be free of childhood. Someone who probably doesn’t even speak a good assemblage of my own native tongue.”

  3. “Oh, btw, an annoying teacher we all hated and made fun of and tried to make cry in
high school, Mrs. Stoner, is in her 60’s and still a virgin”

  4. His current thread on “Why are there no attractive retards?”

Boy, I wish I could find the one where he claims to be a “devout Christian.”

Thanks, Phil. You saved me a bit of leg work. Here’s Homer’s quote on his faith.

from this thread. http://www.straightdope.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000358.html

Sorry Homer, I can’t leave the “misunderstood humor” out of this. I’ve looked at many of your posts today attempting to glean the humor from them. Sorry, I can’t find it; but maybe I’m just simple.

If you would point me towards some of your “humor” and explain it to me, I’d be glad to re-evaluate it.

That may be true, but you sure are attractive, for a retard.

Can someone provide a link to the “attractive retard” thread? I just answered Homers question about employment nicely, and I think I might regret that now.

Homer:
Please refrain from calling yourself a Christian.
People like you who say horrid, hateful things, then call themselves “Christian” give all Christians a bad name.

Your bigoted racist views and true Christianity are mutually exclusive.

If you are so religious, maybe you should start your own religion:
"The Church of Hate and Intolerance"

Then, unmasked, you could spread your message to the masses.

Here’s a link for you Zette. It comes with a warning though. Don’t waste your time reading it. It is outrageously offensive and morally repugnant.

And completely devoid of any discernable humor, go figure. Homer, I’m still waiting for examples of your alleged wit.

Seriously, I don’t think Homer means bad by posting the stuff we all read and shake our heads about. Really. My best guess is, he’s just not so bright. And his lack of eloquence doesn’t really help either - the only thing I blame him for is that instead of admitting to using derogative terminology, he claims he “doesn’t want to put his life into a PC framework” or words to that effect.

Homer, if you would meet me IRL, you would find me to be one of the least PC people you’ve ever met. I do however RESPECT everyone that’s different.

I won’t say African-American, I’ll more likely say “black man” in casual conversation. Analogous to the fact that I’m a “white man” - just being descriptive, just stating a colour. Calling a black man a “nigger” is crossing the line in a BIG way though.

Yes, I know, I’m not an American and the example above is culturally biased.
Yes, I know you didn’t say nigger. That’s why it’s an example.

I’ve saig it before Homer: your intentions will be better understood if you think a while longer before hitting “Submit”.

Yipes…thanks for the link…I have brother in law who is retarded. You should have seen the day that some asshole in a motorcycle shop commented to his friend (loudly) to “check out the retard” in earshot of my husband. My husband informed him that his brother was handicapped, but not nearly as handicapped as this jerk was going to be if he didn’t get the fuck out of the store quick. He and his friend high tailed it out of there, and the rest of the store cheered.

In short, Homer- learn a little fucking tact. I defended you during the Mexican thing, citing the obvious rage you were in at the time. Unfortunately now I think you just don’t give a fuck who your words hurt. I won’t call you names, there’s no need. When you look in the mirror, I hope you see what you are.

Always remember that when everyone in the world except you is being a jerk, the jerk is usually you. I had such hopes that I was right about you- I’m disappointed to see that I was wrong all along.

I’ll try to stay in order, but I’m tired and sorely in need of a shower, so this may be short.

Ayesha - Not asking for food. I’m quite full. I was asking that if people didn’t like what I was saying, not to sidetrack a thread to point it out, to please do so here, where it belongs. And, BTW, I find it perfectly acceptable to flame me within my own threads.

Phil - Oh, wow. That’s like a ‘Worst of Me’ list right there. You did your homework. I think we can all admit to posting things here we have come to regret. And yes, the Holiday Collection part was funny.

UncleBeer - You’re not alone. Sometimes, I get on a streak and actually do amuse people. Mostly, I just talk and people look at me, then walk away.

Zette - I’m sorry I offended you. I truly did not intend to offend everyone like was done. Most people won’t believe me, but I was just struck with a stupid thought, and phrased it in a stupid way.

Okatym - One question: Are you perfect? Answer that question. I want a one word answer. Are you perfect?

Coldfire - You’re right. White people are referred to as white, and people with darker colored skin in the brown range are referred to as black. I refuse to say African-American simply because it makes no sense. Dave Matthews is an african-american. The phrase makes no sense. But nigger? No. And Coldfire? You’d have to say alot worse than I have before I would think less of you.

People, I talk out my ass alot. More here than in real life, because, being raised in a large part on computers and the net, this is so much more impersonal. You older members may take this as a big meeting where friends get together and talk. For the younger set, we say whatever we feel like, without worrying of repercussions. Because there are none. You don’t have to get mad at us for being more rash and less tactful. That’s how and what the internet and message boards are to us. I don’t take anything anyone here says about me personally, and although many of you probably do, often times that is forgotten. Not because I’m a moron. Not because I’m a jerk. Not because I’m a hypocrite. Because that’s how life is for me. That’s how life is for alot of people. Especially people who have been using an electronic medium their whole life. You may say things on here you would never say in real life. Younger people say things in real life that you would never say. So imagine to what degree that further openness will be taken to in the shadows of anonymity. I’m not telling anyone here to change, and I sure don’t plan on changing. If you are as mature as you say you are (and I believe you are) and I am as I say I am, there is nothing stopping us from getting along, and wonderfully so. At least, not on my end. Its all of you who are not accepting me. I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably be forced to say it again. I’ve not judged any single one of you. Even the ones who are completely polar opposites of me. I would expect, but probably won’t get, the same amount of respect from you. Is it because I’m young? Maybe. Is it because I’m open? Probably. Is it because I hold those different views? Most likely.

Or, this could all be a lie to cover myself just long enough to squeeze in some more inflammatory remarks. Take it as you will.

–Tim

We are the children of the Eighties. We are not the first “lost generation” nor today’s lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak.

Homer,

you said ‘I think we can all admit to posting things here we have come to regret.’

Yes indeed, but after the first time you should learn not to.

You said ‘I truly did not intend to offend everyone like was done. Most people won’t believe me, but I was just struck with a stupid thought, and phrased it in a stupid way.’

The beauty of the message board is that you have time to phrase things carefully BEFORE posting.

You said ‘Okatym - One question: Are you perfect? Answer that question. I want a one word answer. Are you perfect?’

Of course none of us are perfect. But you can still try to do your best, not think for example ‘oh he doesn’t try hard, so I don’t have to either’.

You said ‘People, I talk out my ass alot. More here than in real life, because, being raised in a large part on computers and the net, this is so much more impersonal. You older members may take this as a big meeting where friends get together and talk. For the younger set, we say whatever we feel like, without worrying of repercussions. Because there are none.’

Yes, you don’t have the visual clues of face-to-face conversation to guide you. Nevertheless, when you get criticised, please analyse why the other poster is upset or irritated.
As for the repercussions:

A teenager gets on a bus and starts swearing and insulting people. When he gets off, a little old lady calls thru the window ‘you’ve left something behind’.
The youth starts chasing the bus. ‘What have I left?’
‘A very bad impression!’

Quote from Homor on a different thread:

Real mature, Homer. I’ve noticed that you’re one of the few posters who has to resort to swear words to illustrate his point. A good career for you might be truck driver.

To me, this isn’t just a message board. I come here to read and observe intelligent thought and debate. When morons like you start posting, I start to cringe.
If you’re here just to insult people, I think it’s best if you just move on - there are plenty of other boards that would love attention craving hicks.

I also can’t figure out why you think that everyone who posts on this board is “old”. This comment is total idiocy:

I’m 26, but know that anyone (young or old) who has been taught manners knows when s/he is crossing lines or causing offense.

And if you are so anti-social that you spend all of your time communicating your totally stupid thoughts to people via computer, I suggest you move out of your parents house and get a life. You are a total creep.

While I have found many of his remarks very offensive and even the apology here can be criticized, I would like to give some props to Homer for making it. I think his apology above showed humility and sincerity.

Leslie Irish Evans

Homer, maybe there are some basic concepts you’re missing out on when it comes to human interaction. I’ll try to illustrate.

Wrong, Homer. There are always repercussions. Any action you take has repercussion. People react to what you do or say. When you say obnoxious, derrogatory things, you alienate people. Action leads to reaction. Learn the sequence. Associate your decisions with their consequences.

Who are you kidding, Homer? If you didn’t take it personally, you wouldn’t have started this thread. You wouldn’t have felt the need to justify or defend your actions. Yes, you do take it personally. So do the rest of us.

No, Homer, jerks say things in real life that I never would. Jerks come in all sizes, genders, and yes . . . ages. Don’t pass this off as a generational issue, because it’s not. Age is not a prerequisite for learning how to get along with other people.

No, it’s all of us who are demanding that you think before you open your mouth (or put your fingers on the keyboard), consider the feelings and thoughts of others, and take into account the consequences for your actions.

No, Homer, it’s because you’re thoughtless, callous, and have a nearly complete disregard for the people around you. This isn’t about political correctness. It’s about your lack of a very human trait - empathy.

Your apology rings a little hollow, sir. Most of it is spent blaming us for your inability to live up to standards of civilized behavior and discourse. While you may have some valuable things to contribute to this board, they are lost in the bilious anger that spews out every other time you open your mouth.

Will work for sig line.
