I can’t imagine that anyone who actually watches any of the news networks would stay on the channel for longer than thirty seconds, killing ratings. I tune in every day for about 10-15 minutes to catch up on a few of the big news items… I tuned in for about two minutes from the last fifteen minutes of the lunch break for the trial… Enough to piss me off and keep me away from the channel for the next week or so. Anyone actually interested in A.N.S., I assume, would not favor watching hours of this pointless, mindnumbing, beurocratically run drivel when VH1 or MTV has one reality show or another on.
watching live coverage of Anna’s alien autopsy
No matter what you may think about the complete overexposure of the Anna Nicole thing, the judge is very entertaining in that he’s a complete buffoon. He calls Howard K. Stern, Howard Smith and Larry Birkhead, Larry Birkwich. He calls Dannielynn, Daniel Lynn. He also refers to one of the attorneys as “Texas”.
Judge Judy would have dispatched with the lot of them within an hour including giving everyone involved a good beatdown.
You watch news on TV, this is what you get. What the fuck did you expect? Content?
People bitch about Fox News, but is CNN any better? Is vapid unthinking nothingness really all that much better that vapid unthinking indoctrination? At least the latter is entertaining.
Now I admit that I’m only 26, so maybe it used to be otherwise. But even if so, that time is long past. Getting your news from TV nowadays is hopeless.
Turn on NPR. Read a good newspaper. Sift the vastness of the internet (this one takes time). But for pete’s sake, turn off your TV!
Fuck, this morning while I was having my coffee I turned on CNN and couldn’t believe it. The judge who was presiding over the whole dying show clearing has aspirations of Being a Star. He was rambling on about… I don’t know what.
It was the Judge Whatsisface’s General Opinions on Life and Kids Today spectacular.
…and then Anna Nicole’s mommy started on about doughnut shop breakfasts, and she was clearly enjoying the limelight.
I flipped it over to TeleToons in the hope of finding something less condescending.
I thought that was Headline News! Or is that just in the evenings?
Man, makes you wish The Economist did broadcast. Actually, CNN International doesn’t totally suck, but it’s only on when Anderson calls in sick for the graveyard gig.
