Daft Punk!!

I went last year. I was simply blown away by the lineup. A friend and I made sure we got our tickets the the first day and made sure everything was planned perfectly. We flew down from Toronto and it was well worth it. Scratch that, it was probably the most amazing weekend of my life.

Now this year’s lineup. Upon first seeing it, I was sort of disappointed, kind of underwhelmed. No decent headliner for Sahara on Saturday night, (Daft Punk has been added since), no sign of The Strokes, The White Stripes, Broken Social Scene or Death From Above 1979. All of which, I had heard some pretty strong rumours about. And whatever happened to the Smashing Pumpkins reunion. Coheed and Cambria?? WTF?

But looking at it now and taking it for who’s actually there and the fact that Coheed and Cambria is no worse than Thrice who had a main stage spot last year, it’s pretty good. This is who I’d love to see but obviously won’t be able to see them all. And I’m disappointed in myself, for the lack of Sunday bands that I’ve even heard of.

Dammit, dammit, dammit…I really appreciate you posting this lineup. I knew I would probably want to go. Then I see all the great people who are going to be there and now I REALLY want to go.

Unfortunately I am almost on the other side of the country and I am poor. But I appreciate you rubbing it in. Now I am going to be depressed for the rest of the day and it is all your fault. Thanks a lot.

I was somewhat disappointed at frist too. But then they added Daft Punk. Now I’m excited. They’re hinting that another big act will be added. My guess is The Strokes or Underworld (hoping for Underworld…or Zero 7 or Portishead or…). I’d like to see another big DJ added, someone like Tiësto or Deep Dish (I guess Deep Dish would be two someones). Or Armin. Or Fatboy.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Massive Attack has just been added.

Bump for an addition:

MADONNA.

I know there are going to be indie snobs up in arms at a huge pop act being added, but I think it’s great. I’m not even a big fan, I’d never go to a Madonna show normally, but I’ll definitely do my best to squeeze into the tent for a bit.

Another addition: Kanye West.

Here’s the schedule.

I read the lineup in the LA times this morning. I felt really old and out of it when I realized that I had only even heard of 6 of the 94 acts, and would only recognize 3 of them just on hearing their music.

Daft Punk just might’ve had the all time greatest Coachella performance. People were crying. Alien robots in a pyramid of light taking us on a journey to paradise. Historic.

Dang, and here I thought this thread would be about the big carrot festival.
