Codename: Kids Next Door

Anyone else watch this show? I think it’s the greatest.

The Kids are adorable, and funny. I especially love how they do the acronymn thing- i.e., O.F.F.I.C.E. stands for On Fifth Floor Is Corporate Evil. Today’s episode was especially good- the one where the teenage kids are all going up to The Point- a place on the hill. I loved all the ways they implied that sex was going to happen, but how no one actually acknowledged it.

I also appreciate how multi-ethnic they are. Never since the drug episode of the Powerpuff Girls have we had such diversity- an Aussie, an Asian kid, an African American one, a British kid, and an overweight one. Totally great. Without a doubt, Numbah Four is my fave.

When I first started seeing the promos for this show, I didn’t think it’d be very good. However, I’m pretty much hooked on it now.

SPOILERS… (yeah, I’m posting a spoiler warning for a cartoon).

(Better safe than sorry.)

I liked tonight’s episode. I liked the “P.O.I.N.T.” segment, especially when four of the Kids Next Door run in horror away from the car they broke into. All that disgust for the typically dirty teenagers’ car. “T.H.E.-F.L.Y.” segment was also fun. I liked how Number Three had the little spy fly dressed up for the tea party.

I think the sketch I’ve enjoyed the most so far was the one where the Kids Next Door go to the North Pole to stop a scientist who’s building a device to stop snow days forever. My roommate and I got a huge kick out of watching the snowmobile rise out of the snow to reveal that it was built on an oceanliner. And better yet was when the snowmobile/oceanliner thing rised further out of the snow to reveal it was riding on an arena.

This is a fun little show, a good parody of secret spy stuff.

One of my favorite gags was in the very first episode, which involved the KND trying to get into a secret stash of ice cream. Numbuh One gets the word that the password is “Frosty.” He tells Numbuh Three, who’s really onto the idea of an ice cream party, to type it in. She keeps on typing in, happily humming-but it doesn’t work. Numbuh One is surprised to see that Numbuh Three keeps typing in “I like parties.” When he reads it aloud, Numbuh Three, not really realizing what he’s saying, gasps and screams, “You do, too?” It’s funny when it’s played out, trust me.

What channel is this show on?

Cartoon Network.

I’ve seen one or two episodes (my roommate has custody of my TV so that limits my viewing severely) and I’m impressed.

Remember this one was decided by popular vote? I never saw its “sample” during the voting period, so I voted instead for Captain Sturdy. Silly me.

Sounds like a ripoff of The Kids From C.A.P.E.R.

I love Kids Next Door. Definitely the best new cartoon to come along in a while.
