Man Bun?
Vorlon Jr. had a ‘Not the Girlfriend’ or two before he found The Minion.
She just managed to land a retail job at a department store that will remain nameless, but has a parade. Since the last time I was in one of their stores I felt like EVERY employee was on Social Security, and she is twenty and sporting purple hair, this could be interesting.
No Mel last night, but odd dreams nonetheless. Still, I’m mostly rested.
Today’s big plans include 2 loads of laundry followed by a trek to Leonardtown for the Spring Fling Auto Show. **FCD **wants to look at the classic cars. I’m OK with just walking around - it’s going to be a pretty day. The sun is shining and I see much blue sky.
It’s cold outside, 45 degrees. Funny how 2 months ago 45 degrees would have been downright balmy, and now it’s cold.
After all that rain the lawn desperately needs to be mowed. That can wait until tomorrow though, because Sah-son has a butt load of homework to do today.
We’re finally both showered and dressed. **FCD **put a load of jeans in the washer. The towels that hung out overnight are dry - I’ll bring them in when I hang out the jeans. Meanwhile, we need to find breakfast. HONGREE!!!
I sell sheet music online - my own music compositions as well as arrangements of existing music.
This month, sales were slow - but then suddenly picked up on April 20 when five people bought some of my items. My theory is that a bunch of people got high and impulse-bought sheet music. (That’s a thing people do, right? )
In other news, it’s great to be drinking coffee again.
We ran into Leonardtown and got some McBreakfast. The jeans are on the lines, the towels are folded and put away, and the shirts-n-socks are in the washer. Not bad for a Sunday morning.
Doggio, If I wear this (Modano) jersey for the 2nd game today, who do I root for, the Stars or Minnesota? Mooommm, you made a special trip for McBrekie? It ain’t that good.
No, it’s not, AFAIC, but spousal unit likes the hotcakes and sausage. So we went.
I’ve accomplished much. After all the laundry was out on the line, we took Higgs and went to walk around the auto show in Leonardtown. Then we swung by CVS to pick up some meds, dropped the dog off at home, ran by the dollar store so I could get some big envelopes, and finally to DQ for burgers. After coming home again, I watered my houseplants, watered the planters on the front porch, raked up some leaves and hauled them into the woods (damned poison ivy is up already!) then pulled up the mulch blanket over the new grass. I finished up by wiping down the inside of the car - there was much pollen in there!
**FCD **is carving something on his router - OK, he’s watching TV while the program runs, but still… I’m chilling till it’s time to bring the laundry in - maybe in another hour.
 I cannot even imagine! Welcome back to the world.
Day 2 of insomnia for me. Went to sleep at 4ish, woke up around 9. Grrr. I think it’s a new medicine that the docs are trying for the migraine. So far, it’s not really helping…
Today shall be: clean the kitchen, do the laundry, do the grocery shopping. I shall also roast a chicken for Sunday dinner. I may do a leetle bit of gardening.
The list seems long for me, spoons-wise. Laundry may slip into doing a few loads over the next several days. As long as everyone has enough clothes for school/work, we’re all good, right?
Rain Friday which was good. Someone complained to me about it and I restrained myself from smacking her. I just said it was nice to see everything green and if it wants to keep raining 1-2 times a week for a while longer this year that’s fine with me. Next system due Weds, with chance of showers until then. Think I’ll throw down some more grass seed on the bare patches. I’m using an ecology lawn mixture on the back patch. Needs less water once it’s established, and it has some smaller wild flowers mixed in. It’s nice actually.
OK - enough chatter. Off I go. Happy Sunday everyone!
The Vorlon, a man bun is the latest in silly hairstyles for whippersnappers: long hair tied up in a high bundle atop the head. I will be glad when the trend ends and these guys look back on it with the same horror that other generations feel about mullets and home perms. JMO, but the only men who can wear this style with aplomb are Polynesian or samurai. (I’m equally tired of the Lumberjack with Overly Coiffed Hair look. Just… not right.)
That said, The Boy wears his hair in a bun or ponytail pretty often. Drives my mom and husband bonkers, but it’s not the hill I choose to die on. His head. (He also wears red corduroy pants unironically, and his great-grandfather’s vintage watch and bow ties. Kid has flair!)
I have accomplished nothing today. Nada. Zilch. The Boy even made my coffee this morning, and fed breakfast to The Littles. I think he’s trying to convince me to buy something. I don’t have the heart to tell him that he has more money in checking than I do, because, hey! He made coffee!
We had a nice rain Friday, but it’s hot and sunny and I just finished planting, so I guess I should at least water a bit, and figure out what’s for supper.
Had a nice retirement party on Thursday, got to see some folks I haven’t seen in years, and got the normal junk (plaques) plus a couple nice surprises (instead of signing a card, they had folks sign a soccer ball, which I referee, and a big old flag that is certified to have flown over the Capital Building (probably for all of two minutes) in a big case that I may have to reinforce my walls to mount properly. But nice things were said on everybody’s part and I enjoyed it.
Saturday I refereed soccer, then slept, then ate. Today I am doing laundry, have eaten, and am not sleeping…yet. Such is my exciting life.
**Peaches **- to my mind, hair is one of those things that just isn’t worth getting all riled up about. Yeah, some styles look stupid, some colors look weird, but in the grand scheme of things, these fads pass and the style becomes fodder for jokes in the future. My youngest sister (she’s 50) has changed her hair color a number of times in recent years, including hot pink, bright yellow, a couple different shades of green, fire engine red, dark blue, rainbow, and platinum. My mother had a fit with all of them except platinum. I wouldn’t do it, but it’s just not a big deal, and obviously easily changed. And she’s a bartender, so it’s not like she works in a law firm or something.
The 20+ tattooes, on the other hand… Her body and all that, but I don’t like tats. I don’t say anything to her because it’s none of my business. My daughter got a tat, but she’s an adult living on her own and I don’t get a say any more. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
**MetalMouse **- the signed soccer ball is really cool! When I retired, I asked not to get the usual gift - a framed picture of our main building with a F/A-18 in front. Instead, they framed the photo of my boss’ office when we made a “chalk” outline with masking tape in the doorway as well as hung a buttload of balloons from the ceiling. It’s sitting above my desk, and I love it!
Just talked to the spousal unit - anyone coming to our [del]wild orgy[/del] backyard party next month who’s concerned about driving home late is welcome to camp in the yard. We can even set up the pop-up camper (it has 2 twin mattresses) and the basement bathroom will be available as necessary. So if you were worried about being in the boonies, fret no more!
Chores all done. Yay! Chillage shall ensue for the rest of the night!
Party sounds like fun Mooommm! Too bad I am about 1000 miles away. Or more.
Dinner was poke chops on the George Forman, rice and gravy and butter beans. Will get us by til the next one.
Another weekend wasted but at least I got rested up for the upcoming work week.
I purchased my plane tickets for my trip to middle Jawja to visit my family in mid May. I still need to get a rental car. I timed my flights so I won’t have to drive in Atlanta during rush hour.
My weekend went by entirely too fast. But…the apartment is clean, laundry is done ans my car now smells lemony fresh. We’ll see what it smells like tomorrow afternoon after being closed up in the sunshine.
“Not rush hour” in Atlanta seems to be between the hours of 0300 and 3:14 am. You can’t even get out of the ATL parking lot in that span! At least the airport and middle Jawja are south of the city…
My handy dandy electric pressure cooker from Santa broke, so my plans for a quick home cooked meal are kaput. Pizza rolls it is! At least I finally did dishes and one load of laundry - didn’t waste the whole day.
