The SO asked me to look for Amaretto Coffee-mate creamer. It’s both our favourites, and we’ve been unable to find any for years. It’s on their website, and people say it’s been discontinued. Nestlé responds that it hasn’t been discontinued, and to follow a link to find it in one’s area. Someone replied that it has been discontinued. I followed the link myself, and no stores in this area carry it.
So I thought I’d look for Irish Cream. We haven’t been able to find any Irish Cream Coffee-mate for months. I used the link I mentioned, and it’s not even in their drop-down list of products.
So we’re buying Bailey’s now. I guess Nestlé doesn’t want our money.
Nestlé flavored instant coffees used to sold in a jar in the stores. on their website all they have listed is individual serving packages (which i’ve never attempted to buy).
i suspect that because of liquid flavor drop concentrates (a few drops in a cup) or individual serving coffee machines (which have 50 flavors), that the bulkier flavored coffees and creamers have not stayed in the market.
I’ve never had Bailey’s non-alcoholic Irish Cream coffee creamer. I see it all the time in my local supermarket (right next to the actual real unflavored cream and half-and-half), but never tried it.
Bailey’s Irish Cream (the real thing, not the creamer) really does taste good in coffee. By itself, you couldn’t pay me to drink the stuff.
Nestlé responded to my message that Irish Creme has indeed been discontinued. So Bailey’s gets our money instead. The SO says she can just use sugar and milk if we can’t find a flavoured creamer she likes. (She does like Bailey’s; she doesn’t like International Delight.) Until she moved in, I drank my coffee black. I’m fine with that. But I do like the Irish Creme.
As for Amaretto, Nestlé still claims it hasn’t been discontinued. It may as well be, as it isn’t available anywhere.
They introduce products, get you addicted, then discontinue them. Lack of demand my ass! It’s pure sadism.
On a tangent, Johnny, why do you use British spellings? You’ve lived (or so I’ve gleaned) in San Diego, L.A., and Seattle … all a long way from Mother England.
I watched a lot of British TV shows growing up, read a lot of British literature, my dad’s '66 Ford had a badge on it that said 7 Litre, and in high school I decided that the alternate spellings were more aesthetically pleasing (as did the gang I hung out with). And now I live right next to Canada.
No need, since there’s Bailey’s. The only issue with it is that the local supermarket only carries the small bottles – for the same price as another place charges for the quart. Fred Meyer is 25 miles away, so I have to remember to swing by on the way home from Seattle or else make a trip into town.
As for the Amaretto, I suggested to the SO that we could get a bottle of syrup from Cash & Carry and use it with half-and-half. She said it’s not the same. Wimmins!
I can still find Coffeemate Amaretto around here – at least part of the time and only in 2 of the 5 local grocery stores. But it seems to be in short supply, and I’m expecting it to disappear completely sometime soon. It seems like they just have to keep trying “NEW!” flavors in a constant war with International Delight and others for market share.
