Colby and Me: Four Degrees of Separation (Survivor spoiler-free)

Being the only West Texan on the SDMB (at least, since the last time I checked the map), I’ve understandably been rootin’ for Colby. Even if he is from the wrong (ie., East) side of the Pecos. (West of the Pecos, we consider San Angelinos to be from the west side of “central” Texas, but I digress.)

First, a rumor went around that he had a cousin at our University. Not unlikely, since everybody in the Greater San Angelo area has (or has had) a cousin at Sul Ross State. Alas, this rumor has yet to be substantiated.

Then last night at the local waterin’ hole that I regular, I find out that one of my friends works with someone who works with Colby’s Mom! My friend is the local director of an agency, and Colby’s mom works for that same agency in Tom Green County (where San Angelo is the seat).

That makes it:
Me

  1. My friend here in Brewster Co.
  2. My friend’s counterpart in Tom Green Co.
  3. Colby’s Mom, who works for my friend’s counterpart
  4. COLBY!

…and via the SDMB, that puts all of you within FIVE steps of Colby, unless you can do me one better!

(West Texas Small Town Rumor Mill Side Note: I also leared that we don’t hear much about Colby’s dad because he and Colby’s mom got divorced 16 years ago and Colby really hasn’t heard from him since… well, not until Survivor 2 made Colby a little famous, that is. Colby’s dad is presently in the San Angelo area trying to cash in a little bit…)

Will you tell Colby for me that I would like him to use me as his dog? I would like him to bend me over on all fours and use me as a stepstool, violently pulling me over a wall and throwing me to the ground?

I’ll pass it on! The way rumors work around here, though, it’ll take the news at least seven minutes to make it to Cristoval.

Heard he flew out of the Midland airport (the airport I use!) yesterday. There’s only three terminals and two airlines that fly in; if you hurry, you’ll probably catch his return this weekend!
