Cold-blooded cuisine

I would imagine rattlesnake is good, I know I like eel sushi. Are there any other tasty snakes or lizards?

Frog Legs are good. They taste kind of like chicken. Oh, that’s an amphibian.

Turtle is pretty good, I hear. I haven’t brought myself to eating that yet.

Fish are cold-blooded, too, but I reckon you’re asking about reptiles.

Stan Ridgeway seems to think BBQed Iguana is pretty keen.

I’ve had rattlesnake. It is good, but there are so many bones that eating one isn’t worth it unless you’re in a survival situation.

Alligator is quite tasty.

You do realise eels are fish, don’t you? Rattlesnake isn’t going to taste anything like it.
I’ve had crocodile, it’s a lot like chicken - really!

Alligator is excellent–I’ve had it cut into bite-size chunks, breaded, and deep-fried; in a spicy New Orleans gumbo, and as smoked sausage. Frog legs are pretty good too.

Turtle is wonderful. Unlike the other reptiles I’ve eaten, snake and alligator, turtle is a rich meat. Closest I can come to a description is that if alligator is lke chicken, turtle is like pork.

I had rattlesnake, but it was in chili, so I think all I was tasting was the spices.

Wasn’t bad, though.

My mom makes this dish (I assume it’s Indonesian; I’m not entirely sure, though) where she fries frogs’ legs with worcestershire sauce. I always end up having at least a couple of platefuls of it.

Snake I’ve only had in soup. Didn’t like it much.

Crocodile I’ve had in a medical brew for asthma, and tasted like a cross between chicken and fish. Definitely something I’d like, but only without the rest of the herbs that were in the brew.

AFAIK, Alligator is the only reptile I’ve eaten - it was pretty good, sort of like dense, meaty lobster.

I’d like to try frogs legs and snake, but I’ve never seen them offered here.

I’ve eaten…

rattlesnake - in a stew, tasted like the tomatos and spices

alligator- breaded and fried. Good.

frog’s legs - really really nasty. Won’t touch them ever again.
