My ideal temps are between 55-65 F. Freezing cold temperatures don’t faze me at all. I never wear a winter jacket (much to my mothers dismay). Anything above 75 and I’m just miserable, sticky and depressed. I completely lose my appetite in the summer. Especially here in Boston and home in Michigan, for it is never hot without being horribly humid. When I go out to the Southwest (is that one word or two?) i don’t mind the heat nearly as much.
I love the cold to such a degree that each winter there’s talk about calling someone to fit me for an I-love-me jacket. Like arisu, my ideal temps are around 50º-65ºF…with partial clouds, moderate winds, and humidity as close to 100% as you can get without getting caught in a fish stampede. I was born in the wrong place, too–I’ve lived all my life in Louisiana and Texas. The only redeeming feature of summer in these parts is that it encourages the ladies to wear skimpy clothes.
I own two long-sleeved shirts. Both are parts of Ren/IFGS costumes, and are never worn otherwise. I have a trenchcoat that I received for Christmas and have worn twice (more on that a bit later) and a HS letter jacket that I keep for sentimental reasons (HS sucked overall, but I enjoyed my time in the band).
One of the few photos of me that I actually rather like is a shot from Thule AFB in Greenland. It’s a shot of me standing on the polar ice cap, in late October, in jeans and a tshirt, with nothing between me and the north pole but 700 miles of cold wind. That’s one of the few occasions I can recall actually feeling cold. The trip to Thule accounts for both occasions that I wore the trenchcoat, although most of the time I just walked around in short sleeves (collecting odd looks along the way). If it weren’t for the flight up there, I would have rather enjoyed the trip.
Ideal room temperature: 79 Fahrenheit. I get into LOTS of trouble with that, especially at work, where the thermostat dial thingy isn’t labeled - during the winter I’ll just keep adjusting it until I’m happy, and my boss comes in and looks at it and starts yelling at me because it’s practically 80 degrees, aren’t I dying of heat stroke?
NO! I’m still wearing my JACKET!!!
I’m NEVER too hot. My clothes are sometimes too warm for the weather, but once I get myself dressed temp-appropriate, I don’t care. I’m often cold, though. I am queen of the layered look and I wear mittens at night in the summer. Right now it’s 80 outside and I’ve got my denim jacket on.
Chance of thunderstorm tonight.
My son is looking forward to this.
I however, prefer a 10 minute thunderstorm only.
Anyone out there Like thunderstorms?
And your point is? When the temperature got below 20° with at least a 25 mph wind, I generally put on my “winter coat” (nylon shell with no lining). Other than that, it just doesn’t get that cold for an 8 minute walk.
I love thunderstorms, too.
Living in Phoenix, Arizona you’d think I would love the hot weather. No way! I hate it. From around the end of March to the end of October the heat is unbearable. You sweat, and of course, even if you had all your clothes off you would still be too hot. Getting out of a shower, it feels like you need another one. The pools are heated naturally. Who needs a heated pool in 120º weather? Also, when a breeze rolls through I feel like I am in a furnace.
The one reward for living here is that the winters are great. No snow to shovel, but weather lovely enough to wear jeans and a sweatshirt in. You can find me on campus sitting on a bench outside. I especially love it when the freezing rain falls down on me. When I am in Flagstaff, where it snows, I could stay outside forever.
As has been stated before, I love thunderstorms. Monsoon season is great, but is kinda scary. When the lighting gets close enough to a darkened house to light it up, it is way too close. The same goes for the thunder shaking a house.
Cold cold cold. Well, not THAT cold, although I don’t really mind if it IS below zero. Ideally, though, I’ll take it 55-60 with a nice breeze.
It was about 86 here today, and I thought I was going to die. Tomorrow, though, I go back home to good ole Cape Ann (kinda) and I’ll be only 2 miles from the ocean all summer. Beautiful seabreeze. It’s supposed to be about 7 degrees cooler at home than it will be at school tomorrow, even though we’re at the same latitude. I can’t wait.
Did I forget to mention it is getting into the high 90s already? They say it is a dry heat but when I am sweating, I swear I am wet.
Oh, and here we don’t glisten, we sweat. And no one escapes. I swear that I have seen a rock sweat. And my nail polish melts off my fingernails. I know there are hotter places, but don’t make me go.
Ugh. I live in Richmond and cannot stand the weather. Late July/early August is the most miserable time of the year. I dread its approach even now. Then when Winter comes, you don’t even get a decent snowfall! I loathe this city and need to move…
The temperature should never rise above 70F for any reason.
Beats me. Shrug I was just teasing heembo for living in the wrong half of the state, a long-running California tradition. I guess heembo is just miffed because the rent was due the other day…
(I’ve got friends in San Jose and San Francisco, and even they kvitch about the conditions there.)
Ninety degrees today in New York City, and the same again forecast for tomorrow. Shit, if I never hear the words “record-breaking high temperatures” again in my life, it’ll be too soon.
I like weather where I can wear a vest and tweed jacket, scarf optional. So my chosen temps fall between 50 and 68.
Unfortunately, the seasons of Spring and Autumn seem to have disappeared in the tri-state area…we went from a high of 47 to a high in the eighties over a period of three days.
Cold or hot? I’ll take cold. (But New York cold, not Chicago cold.) As others have said, you can always throw on another sweater.
You’re way out of bounds with that post, heembo. Personal attacks and insults will not be tolerated in this forum. Do NOT do it again–and yes, this is an official warning.
