I’ve no idea what was written on the postcard or how it caused offence, but I think the chap’s got a right to give his side of the story…
I assumed by that thread’s closing, and by Coldfire’s reference to the closing of the thread in question, the mods were basically saying “we have a policy regarding member meeting IRL, read it. Keep arrangements of such meetings and references to such meetings within e-mail.”
I could also be wildly wrong. I’m sure Coldfire will be along to clarify.
I’m sure if Sir-stalks-alot wants to defend himself, he’ll find a way to do so.

Upon re-reading the Reader’s policy on members meeting IRL, it does not say anything specific about mailing, but shoudn’t that be common sense?

I support Coldfire, and agree that, as this is to do with stuff off-board, it should surely be dealt with via, for example, email. That’s been the policy here for ages.
I did write a response, the thread was closed in the time I was writing it. To avoid fueling yet another thread that would be locked I’ll wait for Coldfire to decide what should happen before posting it, I e-mailed him my response as well.
actually that’s the exact reason I was given when I asked about the first thread being closed. Its a good policy, I see, after being shown a few other examples of how things like this can be.
Far too mant people get raped, hurt, or killed after contact with someone over the 'net. It’s not always the person being sought that ends up being the victim, so it’s dangerous on both sides. I’m glad that you see how this policy is a good thing.

To all of you, stupid enough not to get two thread closings on this matter already: it’s been dealt with. Or it will be dealt with, by the posters at hand. I don’t give a shit what people write to each other on post cards, and I sure as hell don’t want to moderate threads about aledged snide remarks on said post cards. clayton_e contacted someone from the boards by telephone. What business is this of mine, other than that I think he creeped someone out for no good reason? None.
And it’s none of yours either. The next one to open a thread on this matter can look forward to at least a temporary suspension.
