The Mods. are not being jerks in insisting on this. Every time they’ve ever left one of these threads open, somebody walks in and starts making trouble. They’re volunteers, giving a lot of time in an effort to make this board fun for everyone – Give them a break.
You have freedom of speech, yes – but not on the Chicago Reader’s dime. If you want to discuss something this board doesn’t want discussed (and there’s very little that is verboten for discussion here), get ahold of Jetsoft and buy a copy of vBB and start your own board. Or hang out here, enjoy the community and the spirited discussions, the word play, and everything that makes this place enjoyable, and abide by the few and sensible rules here.

I believe a person/post has a right to continue, even if people ‘think’ it will get bad. And if they are proved right - then post it.
And I believe far worse people than me have been banned, and while I have had my annoying moments, and even some stuff worth banning me for in the past, I am an otherwise law-abiding and sincere doper.

You have almost 1200 posts and have been around long enough to be part of the family. Insisting on having the last word is not always the best strategy for getting your point across. Coldfire is a mod and sometimes he has to make decisions that you don’t agree with. I have felt roughly handled by mods a time or two, but in the end this is just a messageboard and being a mod is a largely thankless task so it’s generally better to simply move on to another forum or flick it off and move on.

astro - what can I say - I am stubbourn. I respect Coldie and the other mods for the thankless task. I thank them. but doing something for free does not mean you are automatically right.
I can at least recognise that no amount of trying can stop this kind of thing from descending into madness. so I humbly (and very reluctantly) make this my last post to this thread (it will be hard to resist. especially as some dopers are very good baiters)

Very. And it’s not helping your credibility when you say you “respect the mods” in your next sentence. Pick a side, be a pain in the arse, or cooperate. Either way is fine with me. The last option will last longer, though.
Patterns start to show up after 2.6 million posts Lobsang. The mods know what they’re doing, and opening thread after thread isn’t the proper way of having your say in this case. You should let it go man.
It seems Lobsang missed the memo about “banning” threads, and their magnetic qualities.
