I think staying close to the center is a good idea. Less hassle for the visitors to get back to were they are staying. I know it’s a wkend but if we got there early places like Pravda are cool if you can get a seat. I don’t really mind were though. I also have to admit that although I live on the northside I’m not that familiar with the pubs.
Do you know where you are staying yet Coldie? That could help with the venue.
However, I think you’re right re. the city centre. A plea though: can we find somewhere without loud banging music, and enough space to sit down? Pravda’s a nightmare re. volume (though anyone who’s met yojimbo will admit that there’d be no problem hearing him, only those around him).
Oh and Coldie I would highly recommend a trip to Kilmainham Gaol when you are over here. The audiovisual show gives a quick and concise potted history of the Gaol/Irish history. The guides that bring you around can be very passionate about their job which also is fun (once you not English ) You get to see the cells and execution area were the leaders of 1916 spend there last days and moments. Very moving for most Irish people informative for everyone else.
You also get to see where films such as “In the name of my father” and “The Italian Job” were filmed.
If late drinks are on, you can count me as another vote for Ryans even if it is more west than north (sorry, jjimm, I didn’t see the original thread). HB’s is probably too much of a trek anyway and seats are in short supply at the weekend.
PS The Italian Job - you learn something new every day.
We’ll be available for drinks on both Friday and Saturday nights.
We’ll be staying at the Avalon House, well known from previous DubDopes. Ideally, the pubs we will be drinking in shall be within a 5 minute crawl from said establishment.
I want to goooooooooo. But I am too poor. Alas. Maybe next time. Have a drink for me.
[aside to Tiggs]Email me your phone number in London (francesca_tweedy@hotmail.com) so’s I can call you and we can arrange to get together. I’m out in Bloomsbury/Fitzrovia with a couple of friends on Saturday if you want to join us).[/ATT]
Unfortunately, Ryanair doesn’t do Holland yet. Why not? We’re the cheapest bastards in Europe, people will kill each other to get on those ex-BA 1973 Boeing 727’s.
Twohundred bloody Euros with Air Cunnilingus, grumble grumble.
