El Torito simply said they don’t have banquet facilities there - only the one main dining room. The Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach DOES have 2 rooms upstairs, both available for any kind of party, however, neither of which are available on the dates we need them. TCF in Marina Del Rey doesn’t have any banquet facilities at all and they don’t take reservations, either.
Coming in Saturday at 10:17 am and leave Sunday at 6:40 pm.
Woo!
Shit, I had always hoped my first faux marriage would be in Vegas. Drunk as a skunk and wearing a leopard tuxedo, of course.
Ah well, as long as my childhood dreams are shattered anyway: sure thing! Let’s get married! Hell, if getting a banquet room isn’t a good reason for marrying, then I don’t know what is!
Hey Sue! You need a ride from the airport, I’m your man!
sniff Coldie my darling honey bunch
This reminds me of my first faux wedding. Ah it was at a 4-H conference, I was in high school. We were the group of girls who made everyone who went through out hall jump over our make believe fire, toilet papered each others rooms, vaseline’d toilet seats, but also put cellophane on the bottom of a toilet seat (much more effective and mean cause the victim doesn’t know it is there until after the business is done).
We married one of our advisors to the house boy. She wore a lovely houserobe, carried floral underware as a bouquet, and had her hair attractively done up with curlers, bright pink curlers if memory serves me well. The faux minister was one of the chaperones (a really, really cool woman whose children were only boys so she loved us girls). Much giggling and merriment was had by all at this after curfew event.
Ah even now it makes me smile.
I am definitely going to cry But is Pancho’s comes thru with an area, you can keep you faux wedding virginity for now.
Just what kind of ride are you talking about, Sport?
Oooh, I should expect one that’s pretty damn bumpy, that’s for sure!
I have to check the vacation schedule, but it should not be a problem. One way or the other, I plan to be there! (thanks for thinking of me Diane!
Are we taking a collection for Twisty? I would be willing to contribute
Woo-Hoo!!! Yah Sassy! I hope to see you there!
Coldie - If you don’t have all your time booked, have you considered making a quick flight to Vegas? I mean, you’re THAT CLOSE, you HAVE to check it out. If you’re looking for a tour quide, I’m yer girl!
Shayna - Thanks for all the leg work! You are a sweety!!
Assume the position!
I bet Esprix will want in on the action too!
d&r. . . .
I should be able to make it, barring unforeseen events. Also, I lost track of everyone’s housing arrangements in the thread, but I have two sofabeds in my living room (it’s a long story) so I could put some people up. My place is near LAX, so it would be convenient for out-of-towners. The only caveat is that I don’t want to house someone who plans on getting stinking drunk. Call me a bluenose, but I don’t like vomit on the furniture.
I’m betting your living room stays empty…I certainly won’t be there!
I smell like rose petals and freshly-washed babies when I’m drunk and I don’t throw up, but I’m still a “maybe,” so nevermind.
psycat and I will be at LAX at 12:25 on Friday.
Where is everyone staying? We want to be near the action. Not too near, of course. After the party is our private time, ya know?
Demo, you and psy could meet me at my gate! How perfect. I’m flying in at 1, if I remember correctly.
Let’s all definitely stay at the same hotel. They all seem to be comparable in price, so how about we ask Shayna to make the call (or at least get her opinion). Whatever hotel seems nicest/most conducive to partying/closest to the beach or bars or her house/etc. And if it’s not the Ramada, Strainger will just have to suck it up.
Uh-oh!
I think he already booked rooms there!
Mauvy, Do you have the room information? Jeff is gone 'till Sunday and I’m eager to book rooms. I went to the Portofino’s website and they are having a special. $179/night for an ocean view room. I talked to one of the people there and they said those rooms normally go for $279/night. From what I hear it’s a pretty nice hotel.
The Portofino is looking good. I’m definitely leaning toward it, with the ocean view.
Sorry about that link.
No, I don’t have any of the room information, I’m not even sure he did book the rooms. He just told me that he was planning on doing it this past weekend if no one objected to the hotel choice. No one spoke up, so that’s why I think he booked the rooms.
However, find out from the Portofino what their cancellation policy is. If you can cancel a room or two in a week or so without paying any penalty, then you might want to go ahead and do so … you can always work out the details of who is sleeping where after you’ve got the rooms and find out how many beds, price per person, etc.
Well, I’m either going to stay at the Ramada (The others are way too expensive), or Merc’s house.
