College Football 2026

Arch Manning is officially my second-favorite college QB tonight.

Who’s First?

Michigan man that I am, Bryce Underwood.

No joy in Duckburg this season, apparently.

It’s been fun seeing all the rational, mature comments by Ohio State fans concerning their unfortunate  blown fourth-quarter lead and loss to Texas.

Day is the worst coach in the world, the kicker (who went 3 of 4 on field goals) is horrible, and the only possible response to the defeat is incoherent rage and despair.

They had better beat Kent State next week by at least 70 points or someone’s head will be displayed on a pike.

NC State vs Vanderbilt this afternoon. State has a 31-28 lead and has the ball at their own 5-yard line, 4th and 7, six seconds to play. The quarterback retreats into the end zone, dances around trying to run out the clock, gets hit, fumbles, and Vandy recovers for the winning TD.

Own-Goal!

Jesus. Why didn’t he kneel and take the safety?

Can’t really blame him for that. Once he takes the snap he’d still have to avoid being tackled AND count to five before he kneels, otherwise Vandy would get the ball back with time left on the clock. Sure the free kick would have put Vandy back in their own territory, but stranger things have happened with one second left on the clock.

He should have heaved the ball downfield. Even if he gets an intentional grounding for a safety, the clock expires and the game is over.

That’s really risky if he doesn’t have the timing exact. If the ball lands incomplete with a second left, Vanderbilt gets the ball on the 5 and kicks an easy FG to tie.

Not if he throws it 50 yards downfield. There were just 6 seconds on the clock when the ball was snapped. Take 4-5 steps to back up into the end zone, then a long, high throw and the clock will run out.

We’ll just say “Mistakes Were Made”.

I’m watching lots of games and I’m seeing LOTS of empty seats. Don’t people go to games anymore?

Then you have to worry about an interception return. Or try to throw it out of bounds and worry you don’t make it.

Taking the safety is the smartest play, which is why teams typically call that versus a downfield pass. The QB just completely screwed up. Run to the back corner and stay alive as long as you can, then step out. Even if you get hit, the ball is probably getting knocked out of bounds where it can’t be recovered.

No matter what the best play was, just hold on to the football, my dude.

There won’t be any defenders 50 yards downfield. Or receivers, for that matter.

Taking a safety will probably leave a second or two on the clock, which SHOULD expire on the free kick. But that leaves the possibility of a many-lateral return.

But you absolutely cannot do what the QB did, which was allow the ball to be knocked from his possession.

He definitely should have had both arms wrapped around the ball, and yes be at the back of the end zone, preferably in a corner so any loose ball likely goes out of the end zone.

Lane Kiffin returns to Ole Miss… and gets BEAT!

Sweet! That was so Major Balls for Ole Miss to go for the 2 point conversion.

Spartans played better than expected vs ND- but for a few plays the score would have been much closer. Where do they get the guys to play the leprechaun? Every single one I’ve ever seen looks like the biggest jerk you ever want to see.

I’d be willing to bet good money that they are in fact.
