I got my grades this morning. Three As and a “Pass”, bringing my cumulative GPA up to a respectable 3.78 and a perfect 4.0 for the semester. (Pass/fail means that it will be included in my total credits, but not in my GPA.)
See y’all at the Dean’s List recipients’ pizza luncheon next month and the academic achievement luncheon next April!
My grades have been coming in one at a time, but I just checked again and the last few are in now (I got seven grades in all, because I’m a music major and a lot of my classes were half credit). I got all As, which is very exciting because I never had a 4.0 in high school (I’m a college freshman). I wonder how long I can keep it up.
I just want to come in and say how much I respect all the posters intelligence and dedication needed to get so high of grades. I am sure it isn’t easy, especially with those in the science and mathmatic degrees. I know it is hard work studying and doing the homework and putting in the time necessary, and just wanted to say Bravo! (seriously, no sarcasm, FYI)
My grades in high school were pretty poor. I had to take English over again my Senior year because I got a D. English (and history) has always been one of my stronger fields, not that it is perfect or anything. I think I graduated with something like a 2.6. I really can’t remember the exact number.
Anyhow, I had a pretty high GPA when I started college. I made the mistake of getting a B, when I could have easily gotten an A in a low Math class. It was pure laziness and I figured the class wouldn’t even be on my GPA because it is not a transferable class (Math 40). That gave me a 3.83 for my first 3 semesters, when I could have easily had a 4.0. Then came the science classes and math classes (algebra and beyond). I must say I have not gotten a class below a B, but due to a few lazy periods, I nearly got a C in one of them. Ended up with a low B.
Well, due to laziness and some poor choices, I have a 3.43 this semester. That is pretty good from a 2.6 in high school, but nowhere near some of the impressive scores I have seen so far. I figure I might raise my GPA above a 3.5, maybe even a 3.6, but I can’t imagine getting my degree with a solid 4.0. Definately impressive!
Well, the unexpected just happened. I expected a B in my Physics 130 class, so I never even checked my grade. I just looked though, and found out I have an A! So my GPA overall is a 3.54 now! Yay!
** MsRobyn**, you read my mind. I was just thinking about how much I wanted to brag about my grades. I hope you don’t mind a grad student jumping in.
First semester of my Master’s degree. I got an A-, a B+ and an A. For those keeping score, that’s a 3.7. What’s even better is that I walked in to the final for the B+ with a B- and I was sitting on a B+/A- for the A before the last two papers I turned in.
