“indefatigable.”

Don’t be a typo bitch.

bite me.

So** your** words gave us reason to feel that you were gloating, when some one points it out, you call him a liar and demand an apology, then other folks post that, well, yea, that’s how they interpreted your words, too, and your response (instead of saying, well, golly, that’s not what I meant, tho’ I can see where folks could get that idea) is to you invite us to fuck ourselves for misinterpreting words you penned?

let me unequivacably repeat:

bite me.

AWC, AWC, you can come out now. It’s safe. There’s just us folks, the big bad man has gone.

Gah. Please feel free to point out EXACTLY what I have said which makes you think I “deserved” any of his abuse.

**

Look, under one common definition of “bigot,” Collounsbury was clearly a bigot. So it’s not ridiculous by any stretch to call him one.

**

Actually, I do feel a bit bad about taking shots at the guy now. But here’s the thing. He abused me and lied about me on more than one occasion. That bothers me. Anyway, I didn’t make my opinion of him a secret in the past.

**

I’m not sure what you mean by “arguing in circles,” but if you feel that I have made invalid arguments, feel free to point them out. Believe it or not, I will consider what you say in good faith, and if I’ve made some kind of bad argument, I will freely admit it.

Well maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned anything about narcissism. As far as the civility issue goes, my problem was with Collounsbury’s incivility in the Great Debates and General Questions forums. Not in the BBQ Pit.

I had a similar thought. He said he had changed job responsibility in a way that would interfere with posting here. Maybe he was relieved to be banned so that he could concentrate more on real things in his life.

But Lynn Bodini put forth Collounsbury and shut him beyond the Board in the Void that is without; and he cannot himself return again into the Board, present and visible, while the Administrators of the Reader are still enthroned. Yet the seeds that he had planted still grew and sprouted, bearing evil fruit, if any would tend them. For his will remained and guided his servants, moving them ever to thwart the will of the Mods and to destroy those that obeyed them.

It’s the realization that this existed :smack: that made me shut up. =)

Then why can I still hear you?

In all the deeds of Collounsbury the Cheesemaker upon the SDMB, in his vast works and in the deceits of his cunning, Gary Kumquat had a part, and was only less evil than his master in that for long he served another and not himself. But in after years he rose like a shadow of Collounsbury and a ghost of his malice, and walked behind him on the same ruinous path down into the Void.

Collounsbury? I though this thread was about millroy.

Oh, wait, he’s still stinking up the net. Ah well. Hope springs eternal.

Sorry to see him go, but even after being warned he pushed the castigation envelope till it broke and he did it willfully.

Collounsbury wasn’t particularly stupid. He knows perfectly well that his quick temper and acid tounge is something has cost him professional and relationship opportunties in life, but in the end, for better or worse, that is the way nature made him. He’ll find another sandbox and get on with this life.

Yeah - that last big post was so blatantly pushing the envelope. On the other hand, it wasn’t exactly a “swansong” - I am surprised he didn’t go out with more of a bang, if that was his intention.

Lucwarm - Coll was NOT bigoted, unless you mean “bigoted against ignorant bigots.” Which if it is a form of bigotry, is a fairly decent one.

Can we agree that he was, generally speaking, intolerant of those who disagreed with him? If so, are you saying that anyone who disagreed with him was an ignorant bigot?

Well if you want to push the claim that “bigotry” and “intolerance” are the same thing by some defintions, then fine.

Then I hope we’re all “bigoted.” I hope we’re all “bigoted” against paedophiles, murderers, racists etc.

But personally, I don’t subscribe to that meaning of “bigotry”. To me, the dictionary.com definition (Websters) of “bigotry” is the correct one:

Coll’s beliefs were reasoning, and he wasn’t narrow-minded, so I personally don’t find him a “bigot.” And as his intolerance of ignorant bigots was reasoned, I wouldn’t even define this as bigotry.

Scylla, our friend Gary is Scottish, but your point still stands.

On further review, I’d like to withdraw my charge that Collounsbury was a bigot and apologize to him. I based my use of the word in what I perceived as a degree of contempt for Christians and for Americans. This is only my inference so I believe the burden of proof was not meant.

Then you don’t listen very carefully. There have been several occasions where posters have stepped up to defend Wildest Bill when he couldn’t defend himself.

In the true spirit of Collounsbury, you set up a nice juicy straw man to attack.

Intolerance of criminal conduct is not anything like the sort of intolerance that Collounsbury displayed. (And please feel free to define what you mean by “racists.”)

Some of his beliefs were reasoned; some were nonsense. And I didn’t notice him being terribly open to other peoples’ ideas.

I’d love to see an example of a discussion where, at the end, Collounsbury admitted he was wrong and agreed to reconsider his position. I’m not saying it’s never happened, but I can’t think of an example offhand.

I wanted to stay out of all this, since I always support the mods’ decisions, knowing full well that the one thing I don’t know is the full well.

However when I finally did read through the thread, I was shocked just how many people actually find a bit of frustrated ire more offensive than the frequently breathtakingly unpleasant, petty, obnoxious, bigoted and just plain nasty abuse against subsections of humanity that caused that ire in the first place.

And I found that I had to speak up after all. Frankly I’m ashamed.
