Are you using the VBcode checkmark to determine if wring is here or not grienspace? If so you should probably know that it’s not a good indicator of the person’s current activity on the boards. wring could have been posting from work and just locked her PC and walked away. The session with the SDMB wasn’t shut down so the “this user is online” checkmark would still be active until the session times out serverside or they actually logout.
I’m not positive this is how vBulletin works, but from my experience with similar applications and my knowledge of web development in general I’d say it’s a pretty good chance of being accurate.
