Colorado - Thursday's coming, so that means...

Sorry about the hijacking!

That said, thanks for the welcome!

I have a join date of 2003, but this is now my second post. This board can be a wee bit intimidating, especially for the grammar impaired like me. But I love reading everything, ya’ll rock!

I have 3 dogs, but 2 years ago when new neighbors moved in, their little yellow dog found a hole in the fence and moved right in. My big guys and little girl let him join the pack. The 3 cats are of a different mindset. He comes over when he hears my car and leaves in the morning when I go to work.

The last three weeks though, since there is a bajillion feet of snow blocking the fence, he’s been here. The neighbors come over to visit with him.

If you are coming to Denver, stay off the side streets and you’ll be just fine, but bring your longhandles, it’s gonna be brisk!

Thanks again!

Latest forecasts are backing off of the initial accumulation estimate some. It’s the cold that’s gonna’ get us this time, especially the folks down around Lamar. Livestock already weakened by hunger, despite the hay drops, are going to be really vulnerable to the hard cold. This may be the cold snap that finally drives my big dogs into the house at night.

We’re happy to see all the stuff staying on the ground, what with the cold and all. It’s too early to talk about the drought being ended, but if we get even normal moister the rest of the winter, and anything at all for the next couple of winters, we might be able to say the drought is over. Of course, I remember 18 conseutive days of over-100 temperatures last summer, too, and that will be a factor. Drought doesn’t end with a single snowfall, or even a single season. It takes years to get into trouble, and more years to get out again.

Getting normal moister is okay, but it’d be better to get moisture, I think.

100+ in summer, deep snow in winter… sigh, I wish we had proper seasons here. That damn Gulf Stream has a lot to answer for :frowning:

My wife and I are hosting an extended family gathering at our house this weekend. The previous time we all got together in the Denver area was last summer, on a 100-degree-plus day. It’s conceivable that with this cold front moving through Denver, we’ll see a 100-degree (Fahrenheit) difference in high temperatures from that last time.

I’m the only one who appears to be amused by this possibility.
