MODELS ARE STILL ADVERTISING A MAJOR TROF ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN AND
ASSOCIATED COLD AIRMASS WHICH MOVES INTO NERN CO THU MORNING. THIS
UPPER LEVEL TROF MOVES VERY SLOWLY THRU SAT WHILE STRONG JET ENERGY

SAT. DUE TO THE SLOW MOVEMENT OF THIS TROF ACROSS THE GREAT
BASIN…THIS SNOW MAKER MAY BE A MORE PROLONGED EVENT LASTING
POSSIBLY INTO LATE SAT OR SUNDAY. WILL CONTINUE THE UPWARD PUSH OF
POPS OVER THE PLAINS AS CONFIDENCE GROWS.
It is four days out, so things can change, but the computer models have been right on these storms of the last few weeks.
This could put us over the season average before the middle of January.
Will this presumably at least help the longtime drouth conditions out west come spring, or is it all destined to runoff? Maybe help recharge Lake Mead, or something??
I just got back from Aspen/Snowmass yesterday. We were praying for some snow which was finally granted on our last skiing day. 12 inches at the top of the mountain! There was much rejoicing.
Of course, we then caught a plane out of there and left any future storms to you, the residents.
It’ll certainly help on the plains, especially since it is January and the snow will melt slowly. Usually our big storms are in March and April and the sun and warm temperatures causes rapid melting and a lot of runoff. The storms that Denver has been getting are mostly confined to the Front Range and foothills, so that won’t help people to the west. The mountains are getting lots of snow, but not as dramatically over average as is the case in Denver.
The Big Element With This Next Storm Will Be The
Much Colder Temperatures With Readings Only Expected In The Single
Digits For Fri-sat. Gfs Has Also Been Consistent With Expected
Snowfall With Each Run Showing 8 To 12 Inches Of Snow From The
Thu-sat Period Across The Front Range.
I still have about a 6 foot pile 'o snow in my front yard. We get any more, I think maybe I will open my own neighborhood ski resort. How much admission should I charge?
Since I’m in Aurora as well, you are more than welcome to come get all the snow you want, I’ll supply the shovel and buckets. Trust me, I have gracious plenty!
By the way, I’m new. Hi!
Oh, and the 3.5 dogs have ensured there is lots of yella snow in the backyard, just in case you like variety.
You Colorado people, stop this nonsense right now!
I’m flying from Philly to Albuquerque via Chicago on Friday. I booked a 6:20 AM flight so that I will get to Santa Fe before 5 PM, so I can get all my registration paperwork done at school. If you Coloradoinians or whatever you call yourself* make me late getting back to school, I will be very grumpy!
That said - holy crap. Uh, try to enjoy your snow. Again. Or at least, don’t go all “Shining” on the rest of the country, being snowed in and whatnot.

My now shovel broke. My driveway is to the north of my house. I too have a 6 foot wall of ice piled up in the front yard. But I love this stuff–I never grew up!
I’m coming up to Denver in a couple of weeks, and I’m getting a little scared! By the way, I’m in Florida, and we’re having weird weather too…it was in the eighties a couple of days ago. Even in Florida, that just ain’t right.
